**UPDATE 4/15/15: Turtle Rock has released 2 new maps for free alongside a slew of balances and patches for some minor game issues. Turtle Rock has also hosted some community events and have been giving away prizes and skins for anyone who participates. As well, most version of Evolve are on sale, and now that the new Hunters and Monster have released it’s a great time to jump in and get your butt handed to you. Still highly recommend this game for hardcore team players or anyone who loves a solo challenge.**

Hate to be the unpopular voice, but this game is damn good fun with a massively ridiculous learning curve, but the challenge is quite awesome. This isn’t a game for everyone, but truth be told I feel this is a wonderfully unique and inventive game. I know this review will get down-voted to oblivion but that's ok with me, my honest opinion of this game is that it's great (not quite perfect).

Evolve focuses on game-play above all else (Don’t expect a deeply written story or very good tutorials), everything works as intended and the HUNT Mode is some of the best game-play with friends I've had since games like Team Fortress or BF: Bad Company 1-2. Yes the DLC model sucks but it's also not new to gaming either. I paid $60 for the digital version and I got exactly what was promised, 12 hunter and 3 monsters. I've put about 60+ hours into the game so far and have only scratched the surface of some of the characters and monsters. I've mostly been playing the Medic and Trapper classes (see: Lazarus & Griffin), and occasionally Support Class (Hank) and just recently finished “Mastery” on those 3 characters. I’ve really starting to get a hold of the different characters and abilities; it feels like I’ve just scratched the surface on the other characters though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, don't get the complaints. March 17, 2015
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard
I love this game. It's one of the best, unique multiplayer experiences I've had in a long time. It's not a normal FPS shooter, you have to think, and you have to cooperate.

For all the complaints out there, I don't know what you're complaining about. Sure a bug or two has popped up (mine has been relatively bug free, my friend's not), but it's a new game. How many games these days are not coming out with bugs at first? Be mad at all corporations for this.
The DLC massive complaint is really blowing my mind! "If you don't have the DLC then you're missing out on a huge part of the game." What part? Nothing besides some new skins haven't come out. There's no DLC to complain about guys! The game is the game! As for the skin complaints I've unlocked two sets just by playing the game on certain weekends. If a new skin for your character is really important to you, this game probably isn't for you. It's not about how you look, it's about how you hunt.

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating April 11, 2015
By Alex
Platform for Display:Xbox One|Edition:Standard
It's alright. The graphics are fantastic, the concept is cool, I like the characters (what we know about them), but it's really missing something. I find myself getting really frustrated with the game. It's completely embedded in teamwork, but people are really bad at that high a level of teamwork. And the fact that Goliath is human controlled (plus the crazy level of teamwork needed) makes the game ridiculously hard and frustrating. I have not once been in a match where the Hunters win. The game is also kind of boring. I can play three rounds a week and then I'm done. You get one map and a few different characters/monsters, which is lame. Really, I just run around getting pissed off at my team mates and mauled by a huge ass monster.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun at first but quickly becomes Repetitious!!! March 29, 2015

Very fun right out of the box but the online players leveled up too quickly and once the monsters start out strong, it is tough to beat them! Plus, the game doesn't change and it's the same over and over!

2.0 out of 5 stars I was so excited for this... February 11, 2015
By Chris
Platform for Display:Xbox One| Edition:Standard|Verified Purchase
I bought two coppies of this game for my little brother and myself but I'm already thinking about selling them off.

On the plus side the game is fun and solid and when everyone knows what they're doing it can be very satisfying for everyone playing. It's easy to learn and control. All that said I'm still very disappointed. I'm really surprised at the lack of content in the game. If you purchase the game without the season pass it genuinely feels incomplete, even with everything unlocked. You start the game with all game types unlocked, but there are only two modes to choose from. With all 12 hunters unlocked and playable there are still only 3 members of each class, meaning you really only have 3 options each round. I have no problem with locked in classes that can't be changed, but for $60 I expect more variety in gameplay and character options.

All this would be a little easier to handle if there wasn't such a ridiculous amount of content for sale outside of the main game. I feel like the $120 bucks I paid for both copies is going to fund content that I'll never see or enjoy without investing even more. I spent that money expecting a fleshed out and exciting new experience that I could enjoy with my brothers and friends for some time, but it's getting pretty clear that the excitement won't last.

I also haven't received my preorder dlc codes but I'll contact Amazon about that.
