2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and discouraging!, May 20, 2003
By

I disliked this book so much that I'm returning it. It starts out telling you how you're going to become fat and depressed if you quit smoking and then the rest of the book just tells you to exercise. I've quit smoking before (once for 2 1/2 years) AND I have major depression and I will tell you I was always happier as an ex-smoker, even without regular exercise. It's true you may gain maybe 5-10 lbs. on the average and it IS always good to have an exercise routine, but I just found this book to be depressing and discouraging for someone who just quit or is thinking of quitting. There isn't a lot out there to support the ex-smoker, but I found _The Invisible Drug_
to be the most helpful so far. I gave this book 2 stars instead of 1 only because the authors had good intentions in writing the book and some people may find it useful since there aren't too many books like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Have Quit, This Is It, August 7, 2001
By

This is definitely not a book for people who want to stop smoking, but for those who have. It is excellent with all its tips on how to butt out and not return to the nicotine habit. Much in the book -- especially the facts about the damage nicotine can do to one's health -- may permanently keep you from smoking again. This is well written with many exercises and other techniques to keep you from ever lighting up again.
