I bought a pair of these for an extended trip through Southeast Asia and wish I had bought two more pairs. The socks repel bugs well. They are comfortable in a range of climates, even hot and humid weather. They won't smell even when worn under leather boots and for several days of heavy walking. They can be easily washed in a hotel sink and dry quickly. All in all, these socks are one of the best products I've ever purchased for travel.

Insect Shield clothing is the best sun-blocking bug fighter I've encountered for work or play in the outdoors. Safe, no messy sprays, no hassle, lasts the life of the garment. There's a reason the U.S. military has embraced this technology. It's safe, easy and it works! I've worn these Insect Shield-impregnated socks every weekend for two months, working in North Carolina woods, lawns and fields inhabited by deer -- beautiful but dangerous and annoying bearers of ticks. These ticks are ubiquitous, requiring a careful body search when we come inside because they're potentially dangerous (in recent years I've contracted both Rocky Mountain spotted fever and ehrlichiosis from tick bites, though fortunately, both were quickly whacked by antibiotics). I've also been attacked by swarms of chiggers - too small to see, but outrageous in their ability to cause insane itching. Since wearing these socks (and Insect Shield pants and long-sleeved T-shirt, all moisture wicking and sun protective) I've had no ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes or bug problems of any kind. My wife bought some also - same outcome from gardening, mowing etc. University of North Carolina research has reinforced the Insect Shield technology: [...] By the bye, though I'm a Tar Heel, I don't own any part of the company and have no affiliation with any of this beyond being a customer who's delighted to find such simple, safe and inexpensive relief from bug torture. It doesn't eliminate the bugs from the environment. It just keeps `em off the wearer of the Insect Shield clothing. And for my money, that's as good as it needs to get. I'll leave it to our neighbor's guinea hens to eat the ticks etc. Finally, the bugs aren't riding into the house on us!

I bought these socks for a safari on the Serengeti. I bought them because I would be in areas where the tsetse fly was prevalent and dangerous. Out on a wildlife drive I noticed that the flies were biting me through the socks! Oddly enough the tsetse flies did NOT bite me any where else! Needless to say...I was extremely upset. Tsetse flies carry a deadly disease called sleeping sickness. So buyer please beware.

These are the most comfortable sox I have ever worn. Bought them for a trip to Southeast Asia. I usually get a small, but these are what was available and as the sox have some "stretchiness" to them, they worked great.

Bought a pair of these to try and liked them so much I bought second pair. On long backpacking hikes they are much more comfortable than the Smartwool socks I got from REI.

Very comfortable and cushioned, making for great hiking socks. It would be nice if it were just cushioned on the bottom with a thin material elsewhere since mosquitoes tend to be in hot environments, but still excellent socks.

ExOfficio bugsaway products have worked out well for me in the past, and this latest purchase met and exceeded my expectations. The socks are very comfortable, and have been very effective in keeping the bugs at bay.

Used in Africa, but there did not seem to be any bugs there in September. It was a bit cold though, and these socks were warm. No bites, but not sure if it was because of these socks.
