5.0 out of 5 stars Review what you forgot from Freshman Science
If you are like me, studying for the MCAT means hauling out and blowing the dust off of freshman (or maybe even high school if you took AP!) notebooks, labs and texts. It also means turning every page of those books and looking through the three year old highlighting. Going though a pack of Exambusters and separating out the cards you know from the cards you can't...

1.0 out of 5 stars Worse than useless
These cards are absolutely terrible. First, they're full of information that simply won't be tested on the MCAT -- plant biology, constants that don't have to be memorized, and nearly useless formulas and definitions. Second, there are several errors, and there are at least two pairs of cards that are exact duplicates. Third, they're not nearly in-depth enough or...

If you are like me, studying for the MCAT means hauling out and blowing the dust off of freshman (or maybe even high school if you took AP!) notebooks, labs and texts. It also means turning every page of those books and looking through the three year old highlighting. Going though a pack of Exambusters and separating out the cards you know from the cards you can't remember will give you a pretty good idea of your weak areas. Then you can hit the books to brush up on those particular topics. There is no organic, but then again, organic would probably take up two boxes just by itself. If you want a fuller review, you can try their Chemistry, Physics and Biology separately (Just Click on the editor: Elizabeth Burchard, and you'll get a full list of titles). The three sets are about 1000 cards total. When you're done, pass them to your kid sister or brother to help them with high school science.

These cards are absolutely terrible. First, they're full of information that simply won't be tested on the MCAT -- plant biology, constants that don't have to be memorized, and nearly useless formulas and definitions. Second, there are several errors, and there are at least two pairs of cards that are exact duplicates. Third, they're not nearly in-depth enough or specific enough. They don't help you remember the hardest MCAT material -- the hard-to-remember formulas aren't tested, and the difficult details aren't asked for. They'll only give you a false sense of security. I don't recommend buying these cards unless you actually want to hurt your MCAT score. What a waste of $11.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good... if you want to lower your MCAT score, January 27, 2000
This review is from: Exambusters MCAT Study Cards (Cards)
I should have listened to Paul Mansour's advice. Most of the cards are very general, and sometimes worthless. For example- subject: chemistry. The front of the card says "CONVERSION FACTOR". The back of the card says "A fraction which expresses and equality between 2 units of measurement and can be used to convert from 1 to the other". No kidding. There are a few decent biolgy and physics cards for definitions and equations, but there are NO cards for organic chemistry. I guess you get what you pay for. But for 9 dollars + shipping, you could go see a movie like 'Next Friday', have popcorn too, and probably benefit just as much in prep for the MCAT as these study cards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid of review of basic science, February 17, 2000

If you have forgotten your freshman science, this product will bring it all back. I used these cards to jog my memory. Without remembering the basic building blocks of introductory science we will never be equipped to answer more challenging questions on the MCAT. I recommend this product as a first step before moving on to more advanced review books with sample tests.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not really worth the time, November 7, 2003

This review is from: Exambusters MCAT Study Cards (Cards)
I was not impressed with these cards. They offer an incomplete review of only select basic material. Plus, the cards are too tiny and flimsy. I looked at them a few times and then never used them again. These types of flash cards are only useful if you need a few quick facts... not explanations. Also, I found a few errors on the cards... Charles' and Boyle's Law.... Better look that one up instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good supplement to review books such as Barron's, April 14, 2000
This review is from: Exambusters MCAT Study Cards (Cards)
If you are like me, you are so nervous about getting a good score on the MCAT that you will buy every review book, CD-ROM and floppy you can lay your hands on! These cards are a good supplement to the review books filled with sample tests. Before you try the sample tests you need to review the basics as quickly as possible and that is what these cards are for.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very basic !!! Not good MCAT preparation., December 16, 2001

The cards covered a large portion of the material from the basic science classes but none were detailed or challenging. Some were almost laughable. For instance one of the cards asks what is the cell membrane. Lots of questions of this calliber.
Anyone preparing for medical school needs more challenging cards. These seem more appropriate for a high school student honestly.
The cards will probably help if you haven't taken sciences in a while or are just starting to study, but otherwise pass these up.

They are that bad. They give terms with vague definitions, and it's just bad. Will frustrate you. Is not worth your time. I promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and to the point., July 8, 2000
This review is from: Exambusters MCAT Study Cards (Cards)
I grabbed a few cards each morning and memorized them on the bus, on the way to class; a few more at lunchtime and more before bed. What's great is that you can select the cards you don't know and also mix them up to simulate a multiple-choice exam. Saved me some cramming right before the test.
