Marathon for the Mind,
By mediamaven (SF CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Examined Life: Excursions With Contemporary Thinkers (Paperback)
I viewed this in video form at an Art & Politics Lecture Series. There was so much to think about and reflect upon that I had to purchase the video. It is truly a marathon for the mind, which has not had such a workout in years. Wonderful "moving interviews" with fascinating contemporary philosophers will have you wanting to start your own philosophy reading group. Congratulations to Astra Taylor and her sister for having the courage, commitment and vision to complete this project.

Weak,

Trying to accomplish too much and ultimately a disappointment. Not worth the buy. Nothing novel or all that interesting was said. This fast-food, pop-philosophy stuff doesn't work because it is not really for a general audience like it purports to be and it is so weak in terms of actual content that it will bore even the casual student of philosophy. If you like Zizek or Cornel, buy their books and don't waste your money on this philosophical sound-bite.
