Luckily, I am reviewing the MCAT right after taking a year of organic chemistry. I feel like the only reason I understand the material in this book is because I am fresh, but I would have a hard time imagining the difficulty if I read this book about two years later. The book draws carbon chains like "C-C=O-H" which is really frustrating. It makes you stop and lose time and actually interpret what it's trying to say. I read branched structures really fast, the ones that are like "\/\/OH." It also always draws all of the unnecessary hydrogens, which really puts a halt on your studying when you're on a roll.

It's short (about 102 pages of lecture, maybe 80 more pages of practice test questions) so I guess it is pretty concise.

I should start out by saying that I'm a super-nerd, and have thoroughly studied the Kaplan books, the Princeton Review series, and ExamKrackers, and this series is very concise compared to those others, it does a great job of delivering difficult concepts in a couple of sentences where those others spend a paragraph or more, but I gave it only 2 stars for a couple of reasons: (1) it frequently says things like "Don't worry, this won't be on the MCAT", yet I see those same topics in other practice and past MCAT questions a lot, and (2) LOTS OF ERRORS in their practice questions and answers, I've spent a lot of time frustrated with explanations that do not match the diagrams, choices, etc...I've found errors in their 1001 questions book for OrgChem as well, so even though I've not seen their other subject books (bio, physics, genchem) I suspect they have a systemic problem in their review process...In short--it's a great supplemental guide to hear most concepts exlplained in different words, but only use it like that--as a supplement alongside a better-reviewed coursebook...and do NOT trust their sample questions.

I wish this book was easier to read. The colors are great, but explanations could be better.

Examkrackers assumes you learned the material when you took the class. If you struggled through the course subject when you took it in college you may want to buy some more comprehensive material (Kaplan, TBR, TPR.) However if you just need a review this is everything you need and nothing you do not.

This book helped me study for my PCAT! It's been awhile since I've had an OChem course, but this book is well written and worth the money.

This book is pretty straightforward. It gives you a little information on the reactions, but for the most part just spells out the reactions you need to know. Not much else to it.
