First of all it is my honor to say that I had the author of this book, professor Goodman, for Evidence. This book was amazing! Sometimes I don't have time to go through the examples part of the book, or they aren't that helpful so I just read the E + E for the substantive material; but these examples and explanations are really great and the explanations are so concise.

If you look around...there really isn't a whole lot on CA evidence, let alone a good resource, so this book was really helpful for my class, and will also come in handy for the CA bar. If your evidence class only covers the Federal Rules, you might wanna wait on this book until you need it for the bar - however, the federal differences (from CA) are highlighted and described for each concept at the end of each section. So the FRE is still in this book too.

I would highly recommend this book!

I rate this as the best book on evidence that I have read, because it is well written, comprehensible and concise, thus making it a true joy to read. The only other E&E book on evidence is by Arthur Best (Federal Rules of Evidence), which does not compare in scope or magnitude.

California Evidence does a remarkable job at contrasting the federal rules of evidence (FRE), alongside California rules evidence (CEC), resulting in a home run combination no matter how you look at it. I'm convinced that when a writer thoroughly understands a subject, he or she is able to write about it in a cogent, comprehensive and easy to follow style, which is the real strength of this book.

All in all, California Evidence contains 471 pages of power packed information. An important book that should be added to every California lawyer and paralegal library.

Exceptional and thoroughly comprehensible.
