5.0 out of 5 stars WORTH GETTING
Before purchasing this dehydrator I did some research as to which dehydrator to get. Was going to start off small with one of those "cheap" dehydrators, but decided to get this one instead. Reason being, that the Excalibur blows the air from the back of the unit going across the trays. While others just blow from the top. Number ONE problem I kept reading over and over...

2.0 out of 5 stars More Than I need to do
Wanted to store extra food for Emergency & heard this is a great way to put foods away. This is an excellent product but it turned out it's more trouble for me than it's worth. Sent it back & I'll stick to letting the experts work the magic.

Before purchasing this dehydrator I did some research as to which dehydrator to get. Was going to start off small with one of those "cheap" dehydrators, but decided to get this one instead. Reason being, that the Excalibur blows the air from the back of the unit going across the trays. While others just blow from the top. Number ONE problem I kept reading over and over again from comsumers is that those types of dehydrators dry the outside but the inside of whatever they were dehydrating wasn't completely dried. When it came to reading up on The Excalibur I looked at it as a investment. I rather pay a little extra for a better product, knowing that with the size of this one I only need buy one for now. With the other one I almost bought I would have had to buy 3 or 4 of them. Once I get my garden up and running I plan on purchasing yet another Excalibur Dehydrator. I been learning how to use this product on [...] from a awesome lady check out [...].... Watch her videos. I was already leaning towards buying the excalibur. Once I saw her videos she sold me on this product. I would recommend this product to anyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong. Top of the Line and priced fair., April 10, 2010

About to buy my second Excalibur 9 tray (economy) dehydrator. My first one was purchased 10 years ago and is still working very well. I don't know why they call this an 'economy' model, it is very well built and does an excellent job- no idea why there is another higher priced model; I'm very happy with this one!

If you are looking for a dehydrator, don't bother with any of those round (cheap) vertical models- the engineering behind this product is much better for what you want to accomplish. I have also had the privelage of talking to one of the owners (a long time ago).... they are honest people with a product that they (and you) should be proud of.

You absolutelty cannot go wrong with this unit.

I did a lot of research before I bought my excalibur dehydrator and I have not been disappointed. Works wonderfully. The trays are large and hold a lot of food. So far I've done ground beef jerky, banana chips, apple chips, potatoes, carrots, onions, peppers, oranges (yum!), fruit leather & yogurt leather. All have turned out wonderfully. It's been an easy was to get my kids to eat healthier snacks.

Love this machine. Although large, works great for me and I've been making loads of apple chips since I received. Works great, not too loud (it's about what you'd expect, similar to hum of a microwave).

This is a fabulous dehyrator. It holds quite a lot when all the trays are full but it works just as great when using only a tray or two. I'd definitely recommend buying the teflon sheets to go with it. I use them quite a bit. This is super easy to use and truly took me all of 1 minute to set up and start using it after it arrived. The only thing you need to know is that the fan is audible. I decided to keep mine in the kitchen because I'm using it a lot. I'm super sensitive to sounds so I wish I had another place to put it. But even so, I'd buy this product again in a second. It's that good! Oh yeah, I also bought "The Dehydrator Bible" and I love the recipes and tips in that also.

So far, I am extremely satisfied with this product. I had been using what I think was an earlier version of an Excalibur that I purchased at a yard sale 15 years ago. It still works great but plastic trays were starting to fatigue and I wanted an extra one for peak times. Does a wonderful job on sliced tomatoes, zucchini, herbs, figs, and potatoes. New dehydrator is much quieter, too.

We purchased this in May to dehydrate fruits from the garden. It is fantastic! The mango, peaches, and apples dry wonderfully without any added sugars. We're now drying plum tomatoes which we then rehydrate in olive oil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excalibur Dehydrator Can Change Your Life, February 20, 2011
This review is from: Excalibur 2900 9-Tray Food Dehydrator - Black - New
I bought my first dehydrator about one year ago. Having invested in a cheap model that I instantly fell in love with, within two weeks I had worn it out and had to return it for a replacement. In the interim I had ordered the Excalibur 2900. The machine is awesome and all my friends are blown away with the delights that are constantly emerging from my Excalibur.

The quality of the machine is great. It's reasonably easy to clean and produces such a stream of delights that I've become popular at community affairs, parties and the like.

For all who are into the health nutrition lifestyle, for those who just want to be pragmatic and produce high quality food for storage and consumption, and for those who are highly creative in the kitchen laboratory, acquiring an Excalibur or other high quality dehydrator is a major life enhancing change.

I've only used this a few times since I bought it - I'm just learning how to use dehydration to add variety to a raw food menu. This thing is really simple to use and having the 9 removable trays is really great. It's simple to clean, I can adjust the amount of space needed depending on the food. Making my own dried fruit snacks and kale chips couldn't be easier.
