4.0 out of 5 stars An important "caution"
An interesting tidbit from the instructions:

"Cautions: Forever Flashlight III generates a strong magnetic field that surrounds it. Keep the unit at least one foot away from medial devices, computers, magnetic storage media, or other devices..."

I think its a great product and I am happy with it, but it won't be going into my computer repair kit...

1.0 out of 5 stars Forever ends in 2 years
This weak worthless single led light actually is powered by 2 coin batteries which are very difficult to replace. When the batteries wear out, (can no longer recharge by shaking) this thing is totally worthless. I was able to replace them with 2 coin batteries, but
I cannot recommend this repair to others, as it requires cutting out the wires holding in the circuit...

1.0 out of 5 stars Forever ends in 2 years, July 15, 2007
This review is from: Excalibur Electronic Forever Flashlight
This weak worthless single led light actually is powered by 2 coin batteries which are very difficult to replace. When the batteries wear out, (can no longer recharge by shaking) this thing is totally worthless. I was able to replace them with 2 coin batteries, but
I cannot recommend this repair to others, as it requires cutting out the wires holding in the circuit board, removing the screws holding in the board, cutting open the soldered on battery can, wrapping tape around the outside edge of the 2 replacement batteries, and soldering the whole mess back together. Note: the positive side of the new batteries must face toward the circuit board, which may look opposite of the original orientation of the original coin batteries.

I think its a great product and I am happy with it, but it won't be going into my computer repair kit or near my iPod.

Also: It has tons of uses, but auto emergency kit isn't one of them. You need a beam strong enough to stand up to blinding headlights, which means a traditional battery guzzler.

3.0 out of 5 stars good enough in a pinch, August 3, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Excalibur Electronic Forever Flashlight
It's strongly built, waterproof, and needs no batteries. It also casts a beam approximately equivalent in strength to the one emitted by my little disposable keychain light, which is pitiful but not unsurprising, given the reputation these shake-lights have.

Compared to the other induction-coil light I bought as a gift a couple of years ago, this one performs identically but is somewhat cheaper. It's nice to have in an emergency, but I would hesitate to suggest carrying one in your automobile glovebox or any other role requiring a powerful beam--the beam's just too weak for anything but up-close work. But for getting around your house during a power outage, it is remarkably convenient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Flashlight I ever owned, May 19, 2006

This Flashlight is great! I have had this one for over Two years and it holds a charge well and I never need to worry about the charge going flat. I gave one to a friend of mine in Belize and she loves hers - she hates batteries. Batteries are evil - nasty things.

BE WARNED many fake forever flashlight look-alikes are now for sale in stores around the country they don't have the word Excalibur on the side but they do look almost identical - if you examine them closely you will see two batteries in the front of the flash light the give away is that they
1) Don't dim or die.
2) Are very bright.
Really Forever battery free flashlights are not that BRIGHT!
Good luck this flashlight really will never die.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely satisfied!, March 17, 2006
This review is from: Excalibur Electronic Forever Flashlight
I bought two of these from J&R, who had the best price I found. Shake them for 30 seconds and you will have a quite bright beam of light going for at least ten minutes, although it will keep going at a lower level of brightness. They float and are very tough, and will last indefinitely. Great for emergency, car or boat, electricity outages, and just a handy flashlight for typical use! They are especially nice for people like my husband and I who never seem to have batteries. Now we don't have to worry about having them ever again!

I received one of these for Christmas a few years ago. I keep it in a drawer. It has always worked when I needed it. A few days ago we had a power outage and it was so nice to be able to use this flashlight. I am buying one for my car so that I will always have a flashlight if I need it. I recommend it!

3.0 out of 5 stars 9yrs old and still works, December 29, 2011
This review is from: Excalibur Electronic Forever Flashlight
I was curious if they still made these flashlights. I received one as a Christmas Gift from my daughter back in 2002. I don't use it very often, but, the thing still works great, well, as good as one of these things can work. It's not the latest LED blind the bad guy - bright, and it is not comparable to a Maglite, or Steamlight, or any of the other Mil/LE types lights, but, in a pinch it will get the job done. I have a large collection of flashlights of various types and sizes, thanks to a 21yr career as an Air Force cop. I wouldn't depend on this model if my life was at stake, but, any light is better than no light. Sounds like there may be some bad pirate copies floating around out there. Mine does not have any watch type flat looking batteries. None. So take that observation for what it is worth.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worthless Junk, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Excalibur Electronic Forever Flashlight
Received this flashlight as a gift. After nearly 2 minutes of shaking, my Forever Flashlight produced a weak beam that began to dim within 10 seconds. Please don't waste your time or money on this light. Perhaps I'll reseal the package and "regift" it at Christmas .. :-)
