5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps getting better as they get smaller.
WOW. It never ceases to amaze me the smaller they get the better they are.
I bought a hand held chess CPU and it was a nightmare to bet it.
Now these little guys are even harder and better, and easier to take with you.

These little buggers will make you into a master in no time.

3.0 out of 5 stars cheap but complicated
I used to have a little travel chess computer from radio shack where I could press the peg down and then just move it to the next spot, making for an easy playing chess game, and also easily change settings for harder or easier levels. This one the controls are so complicated to learn and to press in to make a single move, I have not really played it. I gave it to someone...

5.0 out of 5 stars Chess For Cheap, December 19, 2009

I own many chess computers which range in price from $20 to $200. I didn't expect much of a game from one that cost $2.50, but bought it so that I could take it on ultralight backpacking trips. I am very pleased with this product. It can give me a pretty good game, weighs practically nothing, and the battery still hasn't run out after dozens of games. I can't get over the fact that something this cheap can play a decent game of chess. The display takes some getting used to, and I wish the screen had backlighting, but IT'S A FUNCTIONING CHESS COMPUTER FOR LESS THAN THE PRICE OF A CUP OF COFFEE! I doubt there is a better bargain on this earth.

I used to have a little travel chess computer from radio shack where I could press the peg down and then just move it to the next spot, making for an easy playing chess game, and also easily change settings for harder or easier levels. This one the controls are so complicated to learn and to press in to make a single move, I have not really played it. I gave it to someone to try out more thouraglly and they were having problems with it too, particularly the moves for the knights. I was going to give them as kids gifts, but the controls seem too complicated for that.
Might be worth it if you were on a desert island, or long train ride to figure out, or enjoy figuring out complicated controls. For me, it is not worth the bother, and detracts from thinking about the moves you are going to make and the game you are playing.

I was excited to see this product for sale, but it is horrible quality. It is extremely difficult to see the LCD images on the screen and even harder to distinguish which piece is which. I spent more on shipping for this product than I actually spent on the item, so I wont bother to return it, but I just threw it in the trash. stay away from this one.
