5.0 out of 5 stars Fun toy; lousy durability
I have been through three of these, okay, myself and my kids and their neighborhood friends and they have never lasted more than a week before springing a leak which could not be isolated or repaired. This toy is too much fun and too expensive to lack this sort of durability

When I got them out the actual float (boat) looked like it would be very durable. I purchased two (unfortunately) I put the batteries in and put them together. I put them in the water of a small lake with a 45 pound child in one and a 70 pound child in the other. They barely moved then one quit completely within 5 minutes. The other continued to barely move for another 5 minutes. I took them out to be sure the battery connection was not wet as indicated in the instructions. I dried everything off and put new batteries in them just to be sure. Both propellers ran again until I put them into the water. VERY disappointing that I spent that much money and even more disappointing for something that we were so excited to use didn't work!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money!!!, July 31, 2010

We unfortunately paid $100 a piece for each of the two floats we purchased from Brookstone. What a HUGE waste of money! The assembly instructions are horrible and it took at least an hour to get them together. When we pushed the motor button on the fist float, you could hear the motor, but the fan did not turn, therefore; the boat didn't move. The other float seemed to work okay until we put it in the pool to try it out. My 30 lb. daughter tried it first and it barely moved. The pool jets moved it more than the actual motor. The next morning the float was completely deflated and the leak was in the seam so it couldn't be repaired. The kids are so disappointed and I am sick that I wasted $200 on these worthless floats! After seeing one review that someone actually had floats that moved in the water, I am hoping my two defective floats were a fluke, but I wouldn't recommend taking the chance if they are priced at $100!

I found 2 for $150 (including shipping)on ebay, and absolutely love these fun bumper boats!! It was well worth the price for the amount of fun and memories. We use them on our lake, and they work great. I also bought the kids "speed boat" by Banzai for my 2 year old, and he loves it!!
This toy needs to be well taken care of, as to not break it. It seems that rough play could break it easily. The instructions for assembly are not very helpful, and assembly took almost an hour. Take good care of this toy and it should last a while : )
My favorite toy! Highly recommended for water lovers!
