I use Excel at work all the time and this book is always within an arm's reach. The formulas and functions chapters are especially helpful -- as are the ones on PivotTables, building Macros, and sharing data with other programs. If you're only going to buy one book on Excel, buy this one!

Excel 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies is a great overall book for Excel 2003. It will get you going on Excel 2003 even if you have a minimal amount of experience in Excel. Introduces you to formulas, charts, pivot tables and other subjects that most people need in order to fully utilizing the power of Excel. Written very well and easy to understand.

I've read quite a few computer how-to books. I prefer to learn by example, which this book offers very little of. Rather than showing you how to do something, this book tells you how to do it in a long drawn out process.
I could not figure out how to use the advanced filter command with this book. I checked out the Excel 2003 Bible from the library and I was able to use this feature within 5 minutes. Do not buy this book!

This is a great book. It's packed with information and I especially enjoy all the "tips".

First, Excel is a software product designed to analyze data. It is NOT intended to solve problems. Unless your problem is how to use Excel.
This book should be about how to enter data, how to exploit the data, how to plot graphs, how to make visuals. It should also be about how to move files, how to email files, or share files. I would love to see how to apply the same formula to every column without having to explicitly name every cell. This is a problem with Excel. This book could have been written in 30 pages. The big problem is Excel's limitations.

I purchased this for a project reference and it was just what I needed. Very helpful and easy to understand.

This is a brilliant book - one that every Excel user needs on their desk. You will refer to it again and again - whether you are a beginner or an advanced user needing to brush up on something. I was certainly not disappointed and can recommend it to all Excel Users.

I use excel a lot and am always looking for new functions and shortcuts.
This is perfect to use as a guide and reference tool.

I rate this book poor. It is badly laid out. Unless you already know how to use Excel, this book would be of no value to you. It's impossible to find anything, and not enough relevent illustrations. The For Dummies series is off my list of reference books. Save your money.
