It's nicer quality than I'd anticipated, and so far nothing I've drained in it, such as starchy items such as cooked spaghetti and boiled potatoes, has stuck to the mesh and I haven't had to struggle to get the mesh clean (I think it is probably a good idea to rinse it right after it's been used to drain or rinse anything that could conceivably stick to the mesh).
How big is it, exactly? From the outer edge of one handle to the outer edge of the other it measures just under 15 1/2 inches. An old vinyl LP record laid on top extends a bit past the colander's rim, and the rim of the colander I got measures just under 11 1/2 inches. It is about 4 inches high from rim to base, but if I measure from the top edge of a handle down to the base, the measurement is closer to 4 1/2 inches (one might want to know these measurements when thinking about how one might store the colander; I hang mine from a push pin on the side of a cabinet above a sink and the push pin supports its weight just fine - it weighs just under a pound).
Con: Watch out for tiny wire ends around upper rim; I have been stuck multiple times drawing blood. The only reason I deleted a star from the rating. Would not be an issue if you only handled this by its handles, but when washing it or putting it up you will come in contact with the wires.

It's just the right thing to use when you want to strain your chicken soup broth, it catches everything and fits right over your pot. Would recommend:)Published 8 months ago by Butterfly Lover
It is big enough but the bottom supports are not good. Round based bottoms are much better. Not enough clearance and touches bottom of the sink.Published 11 months ago by Deeskie
Works great, high quality, which is what I was worried about when I purchased for such a low price. One word of advice, don't let any noodles sit in there, even after drainning... Read morePublished 11 months ago by lyler
