5.0 out of 5 stars Whimsical and practical.
I use this cup at work and it has delighted everyone who sees it. It passes itself off as a paper cup until you touch it, which is pretty fun, as far as "fun" from a coffee cup can go. It's usable, pleasant to the touch, and easy to clean. And hey, it's fun to spot the very same cup in its original paper format on so many of the various cop shows on television. I am...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too small and gets too hot
This is a very cool looking mug, from a few feet back it looks identical to the iconic paper cup. However, because the ceramic is much thicker than paper, it holds so little liquid. Also, because there's no handle, the mug gets far too hot to comfortably hold when it's filled with a hot beverage. Too bad.

It's usable, pleasant to the touch, and easy to clean. And hey, it's fun to spot the very same cup in its original paper format on so many of the various cop shows on television. I am probably not supposed to name these shows directly in a review, but I've found myself pointing to the screen. Me: "See. He has my cup. The very same cup!" Them: "Okay, would you shut up about your cup?" Me: "But it's exactly like my cup!" Them: "WE KNOW." I recommend this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bring a piece of New York home., April 30, 2009
This review is from: Exceptionlab Inc. 10-Ounce Ceramic Cup "We are happy to serve you" (Kitchen)
Anyone who has been to New York and had a cup of coffee within the last 40 years (not at starbucks) will recognize this ceramic replica of the city's disposable coffee cup. There's only one flaw with this hip coffee mug: Since it's made just like the original cup, it's just as small! The cool factor makes up for the size, though.

As a transplanted New Yorker I am all too familiar with the "Happy to Serve You" paper cups you get all over the City. Having given this cup to my cousin, she was blown away at how "lifelike" this cup is. It's sturdy ceramic that is made to look exactly like the paper cup - right down to the seam on the side! It's a comforting piece of home. Also, since there is no handle, it keeps your hands warm too! Awesome!

3.0 out of 5 stars A 20% discount: an 8 oz. cup at the 10 oz. price!!, December 1, 2010

This does not even sort of hold 10 fluid ounces. Filled one drop shy of overflowing, it holds 8 oz. The end. Yet, the product name, the advertising copy, the printed measurements on the actual box all say 10 ounces. A measuring cup is all you need to falsify this claim. Perhaps when submerged in coffee this product displaces 10 ounces, but no one buys a coffee cup for how much it weighs. Make no mistake: filled to the rim, this coffee cup holds 8 fluid ounces.

Cute? Yes. Nostalgic? Yes. Environmentally conscious? Yes. 10 ounces? No.

This cup is very cool but extremely hot. There is no handle and it becomes impossible to handle it filled with coffee. For cold and warm liquids it would be fine but not for hot coffee. Don't say I didn't warn you, javafolk...

This mug is fabulous and the negative reviews show that there are a lot of morons out there.

The thing is a conversation piece. It's well-made and funny as hell. They went through the trouble of giving it the imperfections of a paper cup, like a bulge where the seem would be.

I don't think anyone is silly enough to be buying this to use as their regular coffee cup. It's ceramic. It has no handle! It gets hot! Obviously, a mug with a handle or an insulated mug would be more practical.

But if you DO want to drink hot coffee from this cup, then lift it by the rim and hold it with your thumb pressing down on the rim from above and two or three fingers pushing up on the bottom edge to support if from below, and if you're careful, you'll be able to drink scalding hot coffee without burning yourself. Convenient? Not really, but it's pretty much the same thing you would have to do with the paper version.

I left New York for greener pastures five years ago and I remember my morning routine of buying a 50 cent cup of coffee, sweet and light, from the bagel cart outside my hospital, rain, shine, or snow. This is a great way to start the day!

This ceramic coffee mug looks just like those little styrofoam cups you get on the go in New York CIty! It's heavier and smaller than a normal coffee mug and has a rounded edge around the top. BUY IT ON AMAZON as it is more expensive on the website momastore.com and others I've found.

I enjoy the coffee cup, but the cup gets hot and there is no way to handle it until the coffee cools down. Gripping it by the rim doesn't feel secure, Still, it looks nice and I love the fun of it. I was watching Law and Order the other night and glimpsed the real thing and was proud of my new mug even if it isn't always practical.
