Beautifully written book.

The best part is you can take the 25 concepts and apply them to your own belief systems about raising your child.

Excerpts From The Heart of a Mom by Jennifer Laurent This little book is beautiful in that it is truly from the heart of a working, single mother learning how to parent, making mistakes and correcting them with love as she goes along. She is determined to be the best possible mother to her son while still working. She addresses many of the problems other such mothers experience and the feelings of not being an expert but learning as you go, which every parent feels. She is conscientious and loving and smart with her insights and always looks with her heart into the eyes of her son. It is a beautiful book, brief and pertinent and poignant.

The most notable thing about this book, is that it really makes you realize that "parenting in the moment" is very beneficial for both mother/parent and child. I enjoyed this conscious approach to parenting concept.

Some of my favorite points in this book were allowing our children to feel safe and happy during uncertain times, instead of anxious, and that "little white lies" can be detrimental to the trust in a parent/child relationship. My third favorite part of this book was teaching our children (and ourselves) the importance of knowing when and how to ask for help.
This book was not long, it wasn't too short either but just compact enough and to the point to not have your mind wander while reading. Furthermore, the concepts in this book were backed up by the author's own personal experiences, to which I enjoyed reading.

This tiny book packs quite a wallop. Full of insightful mom moments that may have some moms saying, "it's so simple." Jennifer parents like most wish their parents did. She treats her son like a person not her possession allowing him to blossom and grow on his own as she waters his roots. Should be given to all new parents as their new bible.

So many parenting books focus on specific things you must do or must not do in order to raise a healthy, well-adjusted child. While those tips can be helpful, sometimes life doesn't go according to plan. It's important that parents center themselves at their heart, or top 10 lists of behaviors and responses are likely to fail.

Jennifer Laurent's Excerpts from the Heart of a Mom is a heart-warming book full of the author's personal experiences and revelations that shaped her into the parent she is today. She encourages others to focus not on doing this or that, but rather her "25 Concepts of Conscious Parenting", which inspire parents to a new way to parent. The goal is peace, joy, and fulfillment in your family.

I was personally encouraged by Jennifer's writing. It was comforting to hear her story and see how she turned it into a life-transforming experience for herself. I appreciated the message that children are teaching us, and while there is certainly a place for instruction and guidance, parents should be connected with their children to learn what they are sharing. From the title, you might think you're preparing to read the book of an uber-crunchy mom that would never let her child cry, but she writes about children learning independence and self-soothing.

Excerpts from the Heart of a Mom is a quick read, at 100 pages, but within those pages you'll be encouraged and inspired. I found myself taking deep breaths while reading, calming me and helping me feel in control. The chapters (excerpts) are something you can read again and again if there is a particular area you are struggling with in your parenting journey. I also believe they would be excellent to share in a mom's group setting.

A tremendously sensitive work, written in the voice that only a true mom can provide. The twenty five point revelation on conscious parenting really resonated with me, and can provide a blueprint to those parents who are opening the door to this new philosophy.
