Go Excitebike!!,

Well first of all, I own this game because I can play on my animal crossing for the gamecube. I don't have a nes, but I can play it, so I technically own it. This game is really fun. The screen starts out giving you a choice of "selection A, selection B", and "design". This game really doesen't have a plot. It's a racing game, but it's very unique, also the fact that it's a classic NES game makes it all the better. Selection A lets you choose 5 race tracks-from easy to hard. Selection B is exactly the same. However, once you start a race in selection B, other racers will be there as well as you. I find selection B annoying because if you bump into a racer (which happens ALOT) you fall down (there are numerous ways to fall down, once you do, press the B button repeadedly to get back up on your bike). However in selection A you are all alone. I usually do selection B for a challenge. And finnaly, there's design. Design is really fun. What happens is there will be a track with no obstacles on it. Your character will be on that track, but he will not be moving and you are not racing. If you press button A he will progress. Under this empty track there will be thick, black bar. In white letters it will have the whole alphabet in caps. To the right of that there will be a CL END and LP (delete a obstacle, finish the track, thus choosing how many laps). you select these characters with the control pad and if you press button B on a letter it will create and obstacle (depending on what you press) in front of your character. When you are done creating your level you can do it on selection A and B (I usually do selection A first so I can test it out, then I do selection B so the computers can get a taste of it :P). Unfortuanetly when you turn it off or reset your track shall go away (no worrys, it's still fun) however I heard in the NES version (the actual game itself, not the animal crossing one) you can save and load one track at a time. I am guessing that this is impossible in the animal crossing version because it has less memory than the nes one because on animal crossing, excitebike isn't the game itself (also to play NES games you need one memory block).
Now let's talk about the gameplay. On the selction screen, the select button is scroll through options and start button is execute. On a race track, up and down on the control pad make you go up and down (useful for evoiding obstacles, etc.). A button is move forward to the right (you cannot go backwards), and when you jump over an obstacle (it jumps automaticly) right on the control pad is push forward and left is pull back (however don't do these too much). Finnaly, the B button makes you go faster but if you hold it too long (you know when this happens, there will be a meter) your player must stop for a while. All in all it's a really fun racing game, unique and fun obstacles, nice character, great gameplay, and it's exiting :P ! If you want a good classic game, a cool racing game, or if your a little bored, and finnaly if you have a NES, you should get this!!

Yes it is a classic, but in all actuality it wasn't as good as I remembered. Played twice got bored. Don't waste your money.

Note that this is a review of the 3DS remake, which was modified to include 3-d effects and improve some of the interface.
Excitebike, though frustrating at times is an excellent game, and can currently be downloaded on the 3DS for free. If you own a 3DS, you shouldn't pass up this opportunity. Gameplay: The gameplay is racing with a twist. Rather than having the camera right behind the car, Nintendo decided to give the player a bird's eye view. There are also a few little features that make the game more interesting. You have to change lanes to avoid a variety of obstacles, while hitting the boosts hidden in the courses. Probably the most unique thing about this game is that you're not trying to win a race; you're trying to set a new record time. There are infinite CPU bikers scattered around the course, and they will try to cause you to crash by jutting in front of you. Also, there are two acceleration keys. One makes you go faster, but your engine will "overheat" if you hold it too long. Also, there are some portions where using the fast accelerator, as opposed to the slow one, on a ramp will leave you right in the middle of stretch of hindering terrain. Additionally, you can create your own courses. The main frustrating thing is that, when you are knocked off by a CPU bike, sometimes you go farther off the course than other times. This is very irritating. Overall, however, the pros outweigh the cons. Sure, they could have added more features to the course editor and included a multiplayer mode, but the gameplay is pretty good as is. 4 out of 5 stars Graphics (including 3-d effect) and Sound: The visuals of the NES graphics are, um, pretty average, I guess. There are distinct warning beepers when your engine is about to overheat. The 3-d effect is neat. If you turn it on, rather than looking at the game as if you were playing it on the NES, you can see the distance of the now 3-d bikes from one another. You can also see the stadium. 4.5 out of 5 stars Overall, Excitebike is a great game. It may not be as legendary as, say, Legend of Zelda, but it's still fun to play (and it's free on the 3DS). Overall rating - 4.2 out of 5 stars

When I received this game, it looked as though it was brand new, never even been used (which I know could not have been the case). This game is so simple yet so much fun. My friends and I have a blast racing down the track and yelling at each other when we go off course. Definitely recommended for anyone. A rare find, very hard to get a hold of, glad I was able to snag a copy.

Classic racing game.,
This review is from: Excitebike - Nintendo NES (Video Game)
This game is quite fun and entertaining but there r some negitive things about it. First since the track is not completley a perfect oval it makes the graphics worse than they can be. When u fall off ur bike it makes u mad because it happeneds quite frequently and its annoying when u r close to finising the race in first. The sound can also get annoying too but this is an old game and they did not have good enough sound to make the bike have more than one tone. The last thing is that the track gets very tiering to go on it over and over again. But i love how the track is not just a plain circle, it has ramps and bumps and all sorts of things. The multiplayer is also really fun too. I love battling friends and beating them. Other than those few negitive things it is a very fun game.

One of the Most Overrated Games from Nintendo.,

Man...if there was an overrated NES title, Excitebike comes to my mind. It is also one of the most annoying games I've played. From a distance, it looks cool and fun to play, but Excitebike is a severely limiting game because of the constancy in overheating and crashing into obstacles and/or other bikers. It's very hard to get going after I am sidelined for about five seconds. I just want to keep moving already, but forget it...I've been unable to get the momentum going. If one button leads to overheating, the other button isn't much of help. My bike is just too slow no matter what I do. That's a very boring game, if you ask me. All in all, give me Road Rash over Excitebike any time of the day.
