5.0 out of 5 stars Oscar Peterson' s playing is simply out of this world !, February 10, 2007
This review is from: Exclusively for My Friends, Vol. 4: My Favorite Instrument (Audio CD)

In the privacy of his home, Oscar Peterson seemed to invite us to share with him an amiable musical encounter in the intimacy of candlelight. Peterson displays his praised lyricism and sumptuous refinement to evoke and play a fabulous selection of some unforgettable jazz classics as he just knows to make it.

It's absolutely impossible to do without of this compilation, because as well as Bill Evans, Thelonius Monk, Errol Garner or Michael Petrucciani, Peterson makes to sing the instrument making it part of his soul; he is among the great piano players ever born and belongs to that relevant status of myth.

His exquisite phrasing blends harmony and humor, nostalgia and flair, enjoyment and enchantment, being the result an engaging CD from start to finish.

One of the most personal and open-hearted jazz albums ever made. Acquire it and surely you will adopt it among your preferred ones as in my personal case.
