This book is a must have for all households. Dr. Clarke gives great tips on how to navigate your way through hospital stays, and doctor visits. This book shares how the patient can become an informed advocate for his/her own health by teaching about different health care providers, alternative treatments, and the common factors that contribute to chronic illness. This book is an easy read for the lay person and leaves you with the confidence to handle most health care situations.

I was not sure what to expect since there are so many books on healthcare reform coming out now. However, this one is great. It talks not just about healthcare reform but gives practical concrete tips on what to do to address the frustrations everybody has with doctors and hospitals. It also gives a lot of advice about which alternative medicine treatments work the best and ways I hadn't thought of to pay for them since insurance doesn't cover them. Its easy to read and has great stories to illustrate the points. I've already bought 2 more copies for family members who have illness they need to get on top of.
