I originally purchased this book as a gift, thinking it was too "babyish" for my 2 1/2 yr. old. But he saw it and loved it! The words are so simple to read and understand that it has become a great learning tool as he begins to focus on the letters and sounds of words. Great pictures and great ideas. It's really helped him understand how, when and why to say things like "excuse me or thank you."

This is one of two board books by Karen Zatz we bought for our 12 month old baby. The book is very easy to read with short questions like "You burped, what do you say"? When you open the flap there is a bright, fun picture & the words "Excuse Me" written inside. My child loves to be read to & responded well to this book at a young age.

big step down in physical quality,

our 20 month old daughter LOVES the Karen Katz "lift the flap" books, and this one was no exception, EXCEPT that this book is physically cheaper quality and less robust - after only about 2 weeks, this one was pretty much destroyed. It's much less robust than "where's baby's mommy" and "where's baby's bellybutton", our other two Karen Katz books.

I bought this book with very low expectations. My kids have asked to read it a zillion times already. They find great humor in some of the pages, but the point of using your manners is certainly getting across.

My 18 month old loves to read this book with me, and also reads it by herself. She knows the answers to all but one question, and loves to answer the questions even without the book. She requests this book at every bedtime, and several times throughout the day.

After reading this book several times everyday, I have it completely memorized from front to back. But my 3 year old loves this book, and has for a long time.
She especially loves lifting up the flaps, and I like that it's a fun, lighthearted book that includes good manners without being stiff or sounding instructional.

Adorable Depiction of Manners for Infants & Toddlers,

Excuse Me!: A Little Book of Manners
Karen Katz has the gift to bring to life any important subject matter for infants & toddlers. I think Ms. Katz demonstrated the importance of acceptable socialization when she created the narration and illustrations for this book. It is well-known that the purpose of manners are not fully understood until preschool-age, yet younger children can integrate the phrases "Excuse me!" and "Thank you" into their vocabulary when they start to speak, without realizing how these words fit in with their desires. So when the third birthday comes along, they probably can understand the connection between these words and how it relates to getting the reward they want. Ultimately, these responses automatically become part of their normal behavior. In the long run, good manners become a good reflection of the parents. What a nice benefit! Other parents have taken notice of how well my kids have integrated manners into their interaction with them. Their reactions are complementary and humbling. Thank you again, Ms. Katz, for producing another hit with us and my kids!

Karen Katz's book seem simplistic at first but toddler's love them. This book really does cause thank you and excuse me to come out of your little one. The book asks if you want peas for breakfast and the response is "no, thank you," but now my daughter wants peas for breakfast?! Gotta love it!

I bought this for my 2 and 1 year old grandchildren and my daughter-in-laws absolutely loved this book. It has pop up pages and my 2 year old has it almost memorized. It will be very beneficial to the childrens manners.
