1.0 out of 5 stars Pike takes another nose dive
I've been reading Pike's work for well over 7 years now and this is just getting pathetic. After such wonderful books like Remember Me, The Party triology, and Chain Letter, I can't believe this is published under his name.

I've been reading Pike's work for well over 7 years now and this is just getting pathetic. After such wonderful books like Remember Me, The Party triology, and Chain Letter, I can't believe this is published under his name.

Unlike some of the other readers, I did not find this suspensefull at all. You can predict what happens in the first half of the novel. It's most likely Pike's own fault for creating a crime with only four people, two of which die. Gee...I wonder who the killer is?

Secondly, I felt his treatment of homosexuality was really rather false and glossed over. It just pops up in the novel without any real depth, and at times seems to turn toward a bias against it.

Overall, I would like to see some more of the Pike there used to be with the intricate plots and a varity of characters. If you want to read Pike, PLEASE don't read this book! Pick one of the earlier ones, they are tons better.

4.0 out of 5 stars I GIVE IT A 4 star!!!!, November 4, 2002

This review is from: Execution of Innocence (Library Binding)
I think this was a really interesting, great book, that leaves you wondering what will happen next. It is kind of scary, but what is really great about it is that when I read Execution of Innocence, I could picture what I was reading in my mind. Before, I use to hate reading, I thought it was a waste of time, but now that I know there are stories that interesting out there, I want to go and get more Christopher Pike books and read as much as I can. The ending caught my attention real well, i coulnt believe it. I liked this novel.

1.0 out of 5 stars No, not very good., December 16, 1997
By A Customer
I am a big C.Pike reader. But, WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE BOOK? It had no depth at all, and the mystery was not very hard to solve.
The homosexualism seemed biased, implying that they are crazed maniacs. Seems like Hannah was not partrayed correctly.
The story was simple. _Too simple_. It was not worth it. Characters were simple, and easy to see through. And again, I stress this, *COMPLICATED PLOTS ARE BETTER THAN SIMPLE, FLAT, 1D [LINEAR] PLOTS.*
I do not understand *why this book is good to you guys?* Previous books were *much* more suspenseful than 'EXECUTION OF INNOCENCE'.
And, WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TITLE? It makes no sense -- no innocents were executed, and ONLY DICK WAS KILLED, AND I DON'T THINK HE WAS AN INNOCENT, DO YOU?!?!!!?(just a few more more !, I promise you) !!?!

Thank-you for reading my outburst of emotions. It is much appreciated.
P.S. = only read this book of you want to lose faith in C. Pike

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect couple!!!!, June 9, 1999
By A Customer
To me, Charlie and Mary are like the perfect couple. Then Mary did something wrong! When Charlie got mad at her. It was the most painful thing you could ever take, well in a way. But he acted as if he doesn't love her anymore. He was like everything to her! I would like it if the story would just end in a little sweater way. A little more love said between Mary a Charlie. Oh and one more thing. Stephen King is not Christopher Pike! The info. about them is different. Pike you're the best!

3.0 out of 5 stars Only for diehard Pike fans, September 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you arent already a huge Pike fan this is a book to skip. Its Pike at a stretching point, almost like he wrote it to fulfill a contract or to make ends meet or something. It lacks the depth and insight of previous Pike books that we all love and cherish.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not his best., March 8, 2011

(REAL NAME)
The device of having a lot of the action told in flashback from the police interviewing room was pretty interesting. Other than that, it's your basic YA Horror/Mystery without Pike's usual signature paranormal element.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charlie just lost his cool., January 10, 2009
Charlie loved Mary. Loved her with all his heart. They were the happy couple, the one that people at school pointed to with envy. But then Mary makes a mistake, a small mistake with another guy. And Charlie loses it, and someone dies. Now Charlie is a hunted man and Mary is an outcast. But what really happened that dark night, when love and rage shook hands on a deserted street? Only God knows, and maybe Charlie.

This book was pretty good but not his best. It was easy to follow and I recomend it to C.P.'s fans. The only problem with it was that you will know who the killer is half way through the book.
