4.0 out of 5 stars ferocious music. goes straight for the jugular.
Wow. Loud. From a scale of one to ten, this CD should be played at eleven.

However, do NOT buy this CD if you are looking for anything more than than stomping music and screaming about war, cuz you're not gonna get it. What you will get are thunderous beats, growled vocals, and all that anger that gives industrial music such a wonderfull sound. It really doesn't...

2.0 out of 5 stars Just plain bad
Incredibly boring, repetitive and unimaginative sludgy thumping EBM. Every song is exactly (EXACTLY) the same, with the same rhythm and approximately the same lyrics. I would admire Funker Vogt's work as a single military concept album (the uniformity of music fits the theme), but they keep churning out the exact same stuff on every single disc.

They are...

What you will get are thunderous beats, growled vocals, and all that anger that gives industrial music such a wonderfull sound. It really doesn't get much more intense. Funker Vogt doesn't screw around. The songs are ruminations about pain, death, war, etc. Basicaly what most other industrial bands sing about. They don't push it to the limits that Funker Vogt does, though. This is about the limit at which one can still be taken seriously. Much more and they delve into the realm of the charicature. Luckily Funker Vogt knows just where to stop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hearing the Voices of The Dead, January 14, 2003

This is Funker Vogt doing what Funker Vogt does best; commenting on the brutality and the utter futility of mankind and its occupation with war. Simply looking over the names of the songs lent to this work showcases that fact, with the thirteen songs rarely straying from the message they've held high since the beginning. It an odd array that steps outside the typical methodology of approaching this type of message, too, leaning a bit more toward the dance floor than some of the more aggressively pitched songs of the past and coupling harsh vocals to underwrite the meaning behind the music. This paints a bleak picture of sorrorw and suffering, exhibiting with sound what many have painted before in other mediums.

In my opinion, Funker Vogt shows great progress as a band whose work was already seeded with greatness and simply needed polishing in a few areas. They've begun the reengineering of their sound slowly, beautifying it in places and keeping some of the aggression in others, taking the middle ground that drifts further and further into the realm of harsh electronica as the band rediscovers the approach they want to use. This, coupled with the fact that their lyrics, although rough in some ways, still convey the mentality of man and the message that the band wants to get across as it asks you to ponder something, more than makes them worthy of purchase.

Still, listening to the opinion of someone is simply that, and the doubting can listen for themselves here and also look into Metropolis to find out if its for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars After a year and a half, this album is still my most played, October 10, 2000

Simply put, I've always had a craving for fast and pounding synth songs. I picked up Execution Tracks after reading about FunkerVogt and hearing a partial track on a German industrial/gothic website. So, I ordered the album and was instantly consumed by "International Killer", "Tragic Hero", and "Shaven". The only song I ever tended to skip was "Fortunes of War", because the volume drops dramatically after "International Killer" and seems drab in comparison. I had a hard time finding any industrial bands to compete with this FV album. After a year and a half, I still love driving with this album blasting in my car. If you yearn for synth sound as much as I do, this album is a must-have! =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Funker Vogt, it's what the Borg listen to, April 6, 2000

From the muck of a post-biological warfare devastated planetrises Funker Vogt....again redefined music and spawned a new explosivegenre. After a decade silence, Germany has again risen to establish an Industrial Fourth Reich. Tacks like "Tragic Hero," "Civil War," and "Shaven" envelops you like a blinding flash delivered from an Anthrax bomb. Funker Vogt successfully replaces heavy guitar with pounding, driving, synth-guitar sound and still maintains a rough edge. "Beyond Your Belief" and "Fortunes of War" are heard in many desheveled, burned down factories, railroad yards, and abandoned churches. Although more accessible than "We Came to Kill," "Execution Tracks" provide the listener with some of Funker Vogt's best work to date. Jens Kaestel still maintains his throaty aggressive vocals that are a cornerstone to Vogt. If you like Rammstein, Wumpscut, and the TRUE future of music, drop the cardboard, baggy jeans, and def-metal, and slam some of Funker Vogt in your player. END

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best industrial albums ever, November 15, 2000

After hearing all of the alternative junk that's played on the radio, Funker Vogt's music is a much needed breath of fresh air. Execution Tracks is filled with pounding bass and intricate electronic music, just like Funker Vogt's previous releases. Not only is the music itself better than most American music, but the lyrics actually have meaning behind them. (another feature seriously lacking in American popular music). I have dubbed Funker Vogt the Metallica of electronic music in that alot of their lyrics are about war and the suffering caused by it, plus the fact I think that all of their albums are awesome. If you've never heard Funker Vogt before, Execution Tracks is a great album to introduce yourself to their sound. Get Execution Tracks to add some variety to your music collection. If you like what hear, check out Funker Vogt's latest album, Maschine Zeit, as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD !!!, March 12, 1999

For this album, Funker Vogt has done what few other industrial bands have ventured to do. They have put the major distortion associated with industrial music on the back burner, and created an electronic masterpiece. On Execution Tracks, Funker Vogt creates a layer of techno effects, and intertwines it within a strong industrial foundation. The music would not be complete without the distorted, growling vocals of Jens Kästel, which seem to fit nicely into the already pounding music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece., November 4, 2004

This is by far the best Industrial album ever made. period. Every single song, except possibly "buried alive", is amazingly well done and addicting (buried alive seems a little too "bland" to me, somehow). Even a p2p maniac would want to go out and buy this album; as it is absolutely perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice...Very Nice, February 18, 2002
This review is from: Execution Tracks (Audio CD)
At the "get-go" of my purchase of this album, I was semi-impressed, particularly with International Killer, Tragic Hero, and 4th Dimension. But after some late-night music listening, I sat in awe at the greatness of Execution Tracks. With the exception of two songs, I love it all. Civil War reminds me of Time of Dreams witht he slow start leading to a dimension of banging beats and excellent synth lines. Tragic Hero was definitely a unique experience for me. The trumpet line as the bridge was just phenomenal and Volker Lutz with back-vox!!!! Schizophrenia and Buried Alive just didn't appeal to me, not much to say about them. Then onto Pure War which is very catchy lyrics and creepy samples. Shaven made me piss my pants from laughing so hardat the lyrics the first time listening-it is just plain dirty, but very cool guitar-sounding lines. Seelenwanderung was really different but soothing and had cool samples, it is actually one of my favorites-also a good break from all the "hardcoreness" of the previous ten songs. 4th Dimension-what can I say, it opens up very well to the chorus and just pieces together...simply amazing. King for a Night is pretty cool, I love it when I am in an energetic state. But only a special type of energy. I gave it four out five because of Schizophrenia and Buried Alive, otherwise...all five.
