Book Description

Executive function and self-regulation are two areas of child and adult development that are fundamental. Executive function has to do with judgment, planning, anticipation of consequences, and self-regulation. Self-regulation is a term that covers capacities for managing emotions, behaviors, thoughts, and memories. Many children and adults have issues with executive function and self-regulation. This brief piece discusses not only what both of them are, but provides guidelines for effective parenting and intervention when issues are present.

More About the Author

I like to laugh. I like witty people. I'm a professor who writes articles, books, and children's stories on a variety of topics. Besides reading and writing, I enjoy horses, photography, gardening, cooking, boating, nature, and Ireland. I seek to promote fairness and care in relationships and in society. Those values are behind just about everything I write.

One of my most popular books is Emma and her Forever Person, about a horse who wants a permanent home and finally finds one even though she is self-conscious about her floppy ears. Articles that sell well are Attachment and Child Development; Neurobiology, Trauma, & Child Development; and a NEATS Analysis of Childhood ADHD. I sell as cheaply as I can because I want my books and articles to be affordable.
