Executive Job Search Handbook by Orrin Wood,
By Ruth K. Liebermann (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Executive Job Search: A Comprehensive Handbook for Seasoned Professionals (Paperback)
Having experienced firsthand the sage advice of Orrin Wood in my own transition from corporate America to business entrepreneur, I applaud the publication of his second book. Recognizing how the landscape for the executive job hunt has changed, Mr. Wood provides important insights into the varied campaigns the successful candidate should undertake in this search. From thinking out of the box in developing your network of contacts, to understanding the power and the limitations of the internet, to setting critical hurdles for yourself - this book will challenge you to discipline and challenge yourself in this journey. This is the seasoned professional's "no holes barred" handbook for negotiating the landscape for the "next chapter". There are immediate and life lessons to be learned from this important book.

Orrin Wood's "Executive Job Search",
By A Customer
This review is from: The Executive Job Search: A Comprehensive Handbook for Seasoned Professionals (Paperback)
I have been through job transition three times. Orrin Wood's Executive Job Search is by far the most complete, easy to read, practical, hands-on job change book I have read. The section, Checklist for Evaluating your Campaign, was especially helpful to maintain my momentum and feel I was making progress. I had plenty of opportunity to practice the section, Dealing with Rejection, and several times received valuable information and referrals after being told "NO." ex CFO for three high tech companies

Great book, found a job fast,
This review is from: The Executive Job Search: A Comprehensive Handbook for Seasoned Professionals (Paperback)
This book was really helpful, but what really helped me was going to http://www.100kCrossings.com . 100kCrossings has a comprehensive list of high quality jobs that are easy to sort through and find the one you are looking for. The jobs are listed only from employer websites so you know they are the real deal. 100kCrossings had more jobs listed than anywhere else.

Easier ways to find the same information,
By Sue Jacobs "grindstone" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Executive Job Search: A Comprehensive Handbook for Seasoned Professionals (Paperback)
I see how this book can be useful to those who are new to the field. However, it does contain a lot of information that can be found on plenty of search engines on line. You can easily find the same knowledge, tips, and guides without having to fish through the pages of this book. I reccomend the following site http://www.execcrossing.com.

Great book on executive job search,
By B. "B." (Portugal, Lisbon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Executive Job Search: A Comprehensive Handbook for Seasoned Professionals (Paperback)
This guide is really one of the best you will find on the executive job search subject. It is a very straight forward guide.
I found all the tips and exercises in the book very useful. It helped me find my dream job, I put everything I've learned to use at a website called ExecCrossing [...] which was great help on my search because it has jobs only from employer websites, and far more jobs than I've found on other job boards. |
