Global Executive Leadership Inventory (GELI) is your in-depth development tool that offers guidance for understanding your leadership abilities and shows you how to take steps to improvement. The Inventory consists of 100 action- and behavior-based questions that are designed to measure your competency within twelve areas: Visioning, Empowering, Energizing, Designing and Aligning, Rewarding and Feedback, Team Building, Outside Orientation, Global Mindset, Tenacity, Emotional Intelligence, Life Balance, and Resilience to Stress.  The Inventory includes an effective self-assessment tool as well as a 360-degree component that allows you to obtain feedback from subordinates, colleagues, and superiors. Once the assessment is completed and scored, the Participant Workbook guides you through the feedback and helps to create a development plan.  As a result of the GELI process, when you complete this Workbook you will be able to
  • State advantages of and concerns about 360-degree feedback
  • Identify twelve key characteristics of successful global leaders
  • Evaluate your strengths and weaknesses on each of the twelve key characteristics
  • Develop an action plan that specifies what you will do to improve your leadership competencies

"Deeply anchored in psychological wisdom and management experience, the GELI is refreshingly free of commercial gimmicks and professional dogma. Executives, scholars, and psychologists will all thank Manfred Kets de Vries for his intellectual generosity in sharing this priceless catalyst for self-renewal at all levels of leadership."

"Manfred Kets de Vries is a world class authority on global leadership. The Global Executive Leadership Inventory provides a tool and a process that can help coaches—both internal and external—help their clients become more effective global leaders."
Marshall Goldsmith is the author of the Business Week best-seller, The Leader of the Future

From the Back Cover

To survive in today's competitive environment, an organization must be able to attract, retain, and develop the talented leaders that are so vital to a successful senior management team.

The Global Executive Leadership Inventory (GELI) is an in-depth leadership development tool for coaching human resource and training professionals who want to invest in programs that improve individual, team, and organizational performance. The Inventory consists of 100 action- and behavior-based questions that are designed to measure the participants' competency within twelve areas:  Visioning, Empowering, Energizing, Designing and Aligning, Rewarding and Feedback, Team Building, Outside Orientation, Global Mindset, Tenacity, Emotional Intelligence, Life Balance, and Resilience to Stress.

This comprehensive Facilitator's Guide provides instructions for administering an effective self-assessment as well as for obtaining 360-degree feedback from subordinates, colleagues, and superiors. Once the assessment is completed and scored, the Facilitator's Guide explains how to constructively discuss the feedback within executive teams or during one-on-one coaching sessions. This Facilitator's Package has everything you need to get the GELI started in your organization or with your client. This includes

  • GELI-Self
  • GELI-Observer
  • Participant Workbook
  • CD-ROM with scoring software, reproducible forms, and presentations slides

Ideal for leaders in the higher ranks and multi-national organizations whose executives must excel at global assignments, this 360-degree instrument will help participants to spot their leadership behavior roadblocks and than take steps toward improvement.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
the content of this book undoubtedly makes it an excellent (very comprehensive and meaningful) participant workbook. It is NOT, however, a facilitator Guide (as the marketing material indicates). It is one piece of a much broader development process, and should be recognized as such. That said, the self-development ideas are excellent and extremely useful. (It would have garnered a higher rating had the expectations been more accurately established.)
