Another Winner From Grossman!,
By
This review is from: Executive Treason: A Novel (Hardcover)
This book proved to be an excellent follow up to "ExecutiveActions".In what looks like a robbery-attempted rape a white house staffer is killed. After an investigation it appears the she is a deep cover for Israel. Our hero Scott Roark, recognizes the killer's style to be the elusive assassin that he has been pursuing.Roark finally discovers clues from the assassins past to discover his identity. In the meantime the administration is reeling from another crisis.President Henry Lamden suffers a near fatal heart attack and Vice-President Morgan Taylor has to become the acting President. The White House stays under attack from talk show host Elliott Strong. He is trying to make General Robert Woodley Bridgeman the populist nominee for President and Speaker of the House Duke Patrick the Vice-Presidential nominee. Air Force One is sabotaged and crashes near a terrorist base in Indonesia.President Morgan and several key figures in the Administration are held hostage by the terrorists. This is an exciting book that has many exciting situations.I certainly enjoyed reading it.The ending allows the book to finish with a bang.

Dwight Zimmeran is right!,

Dwight Zimmerman's comments about Gary Grossman's writing and storytelling talents are absolutely right. It's inevitable that Mr. Grossman will be compared to other writers in this genre, but he has a special ability to make characters and plots disturbingly, frighteningly real. You begin his books knowing they're fiction, but within a few pages you're living through something that's so believable that it feels like fact. True -- you're definitely "escaping" with a great read, but the quality of the writing requires absolutely no "suspension" of disbelief. You can't go wrong with his work.

If you haven't read the first book of this series, BUY IT NOW.The second book is even better. Roarke is even better then before and he has great supporting characters that just make this story leave you wanting more.I buy and read a lot of books from Amazon and have many favorite authors that I read but let me tell you, Mr. Grossman is the Man.

The author has hit it out of the park with his second excellent novel. Everything said in a positive note is true. But will we see a sequel? It has been three years since this book was published.......what a loss!

A book you can't put down!,

This review is from: Executive Treason: A Novel (Hardcover)
I just powered through Gary Grossman's riveting new book - I thoroughly enjoyed it and in fact could not put it down! I found it well written and suspenseful with interesting and compelling characters, terrific plot and a great set-up for book #3 - which I'm thankful for, as I can hardly wait for the next installment! Grossman captures the genre of political hriller like no other author today. My big question is: when we can expect to see the movie version?

Be prepared for a liberal assault.,
By KeesLover (Cave Junction, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Executive Treason: A Novel (Hardcover)
A fairly exciting read, but peppered with assaults on talk radio, conservative values and people, and pushes an agenda of reinstating the 'fairness doctrine' while overlooking the biases of the major networks, newspapers, and educational institutions. The author provides a list of characters in the front of the book, as wellas a list of geographic places, so you can keep the plethora of them straight. A complicated twisting plot that is interesting, but easily put away for another evening's read.

Biased and Too Much Detail,

First off, I agree with KeesLover's review. As seems to be the trend amongst many authors these days, the book leans heavily to the left fringe. Conservatives are bashed and made out to be gun-toting rednecks that want to take over the government. Quite humorous to say the least that an author can be so shallow minded.Secondly, the book is too detailed on information that is not necessary for the story. That is why the author placed a list of characters and their respective roles at the beginning of the book. If you have to list the characters and their roles at the beginning of the book to keep the reader aware of all that is happening, then perhaps the book isn't worth the read when many authors can tell a similar story without the minute details and character roles. I don't recommend the book. Took a long time to tell a rather predictable and short story.

A great page turner!!! Riveting!!!,

I pride myself on disciplined reading - not getting carried away like an amateur; reading once a year, jamming through a book at break-neck-speed to the end, and then not reading another book until next year. Once, in a while though, I can't help it. I was doing pretty well through the first part of this book, cruising along at a steady pace a little each night. Then the plot tightens, and sings, and pulls you in - tight. Now I'm flipping page after page deep into the next morning. I got next to no sleep and the next day I was trashed. It was worth it.It's a raucous fun ride and a great sequel to the first book. If you like history, technology, politics, suspense, murder, conspiracy and betrayl (who doesn't?), you're in for a treat with this one. All thumbs up, WAY up!!!

This review is from: Executive Treason: A Novel (Hardcover)
Decided to read Executive Treason because the plot and execution of EXECUTIVE ACTION was plausible and pretty realistically developed. I generally purchase books approx. 12-18 months before I am able to actually get to them, purchasing approx. 65-85 books per year, just to get ahead; rather than miss a good book. I overlook the misspelled words, etc. if the story line, the characters, the actual writing is reasonably good. Unfortunately, although several of Grossman's characters merit watching, the writing was somewhat unprofessional and slanted. Obviously Grossman DETESTS Conservative Right-wing thinking, which unfortunately suggests that he actually has more interest in promoting his "politically correct agenda" than writing a really good novel. The book had much more detail than was necessary and much of the detail was immature in its delivery. Not necessarily bad writing for a beginner; certainly not up to the quality of the more developed writers of this type of story. I haven't written a review in several years, BUT upon reading the EXTREMELY POSITIVE/GLORIFYING reviews of several of the reviewers of Executive Treason on Amazon, I really wanted to express my opinion (and that's all it really is) about the book, the writer, and the politics expressed in the book to put a somewhat more realistic tone to the reviews. Comparing Mr. Grossman's writing with the truly excellent writers of this type of fiction is not a very good use of time or energy at this point. Hopefully, if he continues writing, he might consider dropping the forced political tone and agenda of Executive Treason and get down to the business of writing a really good book. If not, then with the majority of us readers, he will most likely be just history.

The long awaited sequel,
By
This review is from: Executive Treason: A Novel (Hardcover)
It was quite a thrill to find this sequel to "Executive Actions". A great book itself, it left many plot lines open that were finished in "Executive Treason". "Treason" can be read as a stand alone novel but it would be more entertaining if the reader is aware of the story line developed in the first book. Mr. Grossman can really spin an exciting tale. Based on the ending of "Treason", I expect there will be yet a third volume in this series which I look forward to. Great suspense, fast paced action and interesting characters make for a great read.
