After researching and trying to find a reasonably priced holster for my Samsung SGH-T819 I came across this Executive Leather Vertical Case. The style was very pleasing and after purchasing it I was impressed.

Overall quality, style and workmanship seem first rate. The belt clip, while not detachable does swivel with hard stops throughout the rotation to lock it in place.

While not quite leather, the finish does a commendable job imitating it. Possibly making it more durable and easier to care for. Nice job on the contrasting orange stitching too.

With a very reasonable price of only $8.50, where could you go wrong? Here is where, the convenient "magnetic closure" created all sorts of problems that took weeks to resolve.

After suffering from constantly dropped calls on a relatively new phone along with corrupted mp3 files on the SD Micro card, I finally discovered the root cause... that wonderful magnetic closure! Magnets are the Achilles heel of most electronics and having one so close to the device creates numerous issues.

In my case, just about every incoming call was immediately lost whenever I retrieved the phone from the holster. Sliding the phone directly in front of the magnet caused it to drop just about every call. Also, each time I accessed the music library and pressed "all" to view the directory, the phone would reboot.

I confirmed this by having T-Mobile send me 2 replacement phones under warranty and each one did the same. My wife who has the identical phone and does not have this case, did not experience any issues. That is until I installed her phone into my holster. Her phone immediately duplicated the same problems.

Rather than return the case, I elected to surgically remove the magnet with an X-acto knife and glue some Velcro in it's place. I don't suggest everyone considering this case do this but I would strongly urge the manufacturer do so.

While I believe the design, construction and quality of the holster to be very good, I can only give it 3 stars due to it's glaring design flaw.
