Excellent program; easy to follow instructions.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
This book contains the essential elements of an easy-to-follow how-to book. The authors explain the why, what and how clearly; and the use of pictures is most helpful. The authors are highly credible (orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists). I am 50 years old and a 16 handicapper who plays three or four times a month. The last 3 or 4 years, I had been experiencing lower back pain while playing and I had lost some distance from my game (ie - drives were traveling 210-220 rather than 240-250). A physical therapist started me on this books regimine five months ago. So far, the results are improved flexibility, better strength, no more back pain and some improved distance in shot length. The daily routine takes 30 minutes or less. I will continue to follow its program and look forward to more improvement.

This book is brilliant!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
The exercises recommended by Dr. Jobe and his colleagues work! They have helped me get from a 15 to a 7 handicap, by increasing my trunk stability, and allowing me to achieve a full shoulder turn. My shots have greater length and accuracy, and I feel better at the end of eighteen holes. I recommend this to anyone looking to improve their game and willing to put in the hard work to follow the routine.

Golf is a game that matures like wine,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
And like fine wines, if you intend for things to turn out well in the long term, you have to set the starting conditions up right. Hospitals and clinics (and golf courses) are packed with people living in pain as a result of unwise swinging. Since it has long ago been determined that timing and flexibility, more than strength and aggression, are the keys to consistency and power in golf, you might be interested in an approach that prepares your body for just that. Simple, direct, and backed by valid research. This book will bring results. It is a great contribution to sports medicine. More pars to you!

Incomplete, I want more!!!,

This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
I exercise regularly, wanted to make my program more golf-specific. I wanted much more information on aerobic training and weight training, especially specific programs before the golf season. This wasn't it.

OK book, needs an update,
By Julie Swenson (San Diego) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
Not a bad book, just a little outdated from some of the information and training techniques the trainers use at my athletic club. Doesn't show enough stomach work in my estimation or work with common weight machines.

Just what golfers need.,

This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
The authors of this book obviously did their home work on this easy to follow home exercise program, that is simple to do and has been effective for me and my students. I recommend this book to everyone I teach. Unfortunately the individual from Chicago is confused and must not be a golfer.

Poor organization, ok information, lack of programs,

This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
As a serious golfer, I want to change my exercise routine for golf. These were already exercises I was doing with a trainer as well as in other books. I specifically wannted more on aerobic training, nutrition and how to train before golf season and during(seems to be my biggest problem). I want to know why and when, this didn't do it. Might only be $10, but if I got to see the book first, I wouldn't have gotten it. I want it all spelled out with some justification, this wasn't the ticket.

Every SERIOUS Golfer Must Read This!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
If you think the program outlined here is simple, you're right. If you don't think it works, you're probably short, left, and OB. The exercises within have helped me, a golfer in his forties, add thirty yards to my drives, and have increased my flexibility tremendously. I enjoy the game more, and now sport a single-digit handicap as well. Dr. Jobe is a genius!

Simplistic and outdated approach to fitness for golf,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
The guys on the tour have to be doing alot more than this simplistic and outdated approach. I want to train seriously for golf, and this isn't the ticket. Before I would recommend this to anyone, I'd have them get anything else including a bodybuilding book. Put together in a hurry as well, I want some rationale for what I am doing.

Specific exercises to improve your game.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exercise Guide to Better Golf (Paperback)
This book outlines the excercise program designed for and endorsed by PGA & Senior PGA Tour. I found the exercises to be simple and designed to utilize those "golf" muscles I didn't know I had. I have followed the program and can feel a major difference in my strengh as it relates to golf skills. A scientific method I found very useful, which demonstrates excercises which where new to me.
