About the Actor
Robert E. Sallis, M.D., ABFP, FAAFP, FACSM, is co-director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship and on the administrative faculty of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana, California. He lectures and publishes extensively in the area of sports medicine. He recently received the 2008 Community Leadership Award from the President s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and the 2009 Leonardo da Vinci award for international leadership in sports medicine from the Italian Federation of Sports Medicine (FMSI). Dr. Sallis serves as an associate editor of the ACSM journal, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, and as editor-in-chief of Current Sports Medicine Reports. In addition, he serves as the team physician at both Los Osos (CA) High School and Pomona College. A past president of the American College of Sports Medicine, Dr. Sallis has been a leading force in the ACSM initiative, Exercise is Medicine.
