This was my favorite exercise video because I can relate to it more. It doesn't have all these glitsy made up people in it, but everyday people of all shapes and sizes which you can resonate to. Also, it takes place in a nice healthy outdoor spa than some sterile studio. It also dispels quite a bit of wisdom about the mind/body rather than some crude no pain no gain mentality which leads to breakdown after age 40. It contains music that is soothing for your being inspiring you but no overcharging you, with a nice soothing music during the final relaxation. I am ashamed to say I was out of breath several times while during the workout watching people 20 years older than me, but I could keep up with the grandma that was 30 years older than me :-). However it has some nice intermissions where you can pause to catch your breath(which you can also skip ahead to the next chapter if you want to keep it going non stop.) It's nice to see how quickly you improve after doing the video for 3 weeks when I started to skip the intermissions to keep the video going. Sometimes when I don't have time I just do the fist 10 min warmup section and feel much better for doing it. It's well worth it's value.

This is a wonderful DVD exercise program, not the Hollywood version of mirror -addicted- persons admiring themselves. It's just a wonderful view of several seniors enjoying their exercises. I just love it and do it almost every day.

It's a perfect fit. The exercises are gentle but invigorating and varied, and the setting is relaxing. You're exercising in a cool garden among real human beings. It's one of the most effective workouts I've had; healthy for mind and spirit.

I have enjoyed Vivien Hoyt's Exercises for Active Seniors for more than a year. The outdoorsetting with four more friends make it an enjoyable occasion while making my body more flexible and relaxed. I highly recommend it. Joanne

I got several 'easy' exercise & yoga dvd's from the library. This is the one I liked best and I purchased it. I do it most every morning.

I am a bereaved mom whose child died 5 years ago. I have not exercised all that time and have gained about 50 lbs. I have real trouble with exercise videos/classes that 'push you'. Honestly, I end up getting extremely stressed & crying.

This is a simple dvd that exercises your total body. The participants are at different levels and you don't feel pressured to do more or do faster. It is really, really helping me to get back on track. I feel calm and that I have achieved a goal when I am finished.

I would recommend it to anybody who is getting started, again, at exercise, or wants a simple method to exercise their body daily.

My wife said Exercises for Active Seniors has saved our lives. We are both 81. Watch the video first to study how each exercise is done. All the exercises are beneficial, so don't just go through the motions. Note that with arms out and twisting upper body, you raise a heel to take stress off a knee. As you increase weight of hand weights (max. 5lbs), slow up a bit. I have a minor balance problem, so I put a hand on a chair when I start doing the lunges. When I first did the "heel-toe-rock" I took it too literally and almost fell over backwards. Then I realized the video shows that after you squeeze up on your toes and back down, you then lift your toes momentarily to briefly transfer weight to your heels and then lower your toes. Breathing reminders and the background music are perfect.
