5.0 out of 5 stars Very effective and enjoyable activites
SiriNam Khalsa's book never sits on my book shelf for more than a few days. I work with kids who need to practice a variety of social skills and exhibit low self-esteem. I find these exercises to be non-threatening and a real catalyst for insight and change. I highly recommend this book to all professionals in the helping field, teachers and counselors included. 3.0 out of 5 stars Group Exercises
I bought this book for use with adolescent groups. I am a licensed clinical social worker will years of experience running groups with this population. I find that this book encompasses some exercises that I already had from other books. I also found some of the suggested topics to be thin on content. Overall, I think that this book is more appropriate for use by...

5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable!, March 7, 2002

This guide provides a variety of exercises which add "flesh" to any group interaction. I used it daily when I worked as a rehabilitation skills therapist with mentally ill adults. The exercises provided a means to communicate, create trust, and build relationships. The exercises range from simple to elaborate and fit into many situations. This book is a great resource to use with children, adolescents, and in certain contexts with adults. It's a must-have for any therapist, counselor, teacher, or mentoring adult.

I find that this book encompasses some exercises that I already had from other books. I also found some of the suggested topics to be thin on content. Overall, I think that this book is more appropriate for use by paraprofessional staff, or those with limited experience running groups.

4.0 out of 5 stars Group Exercises, May 14, 2007

Most of the exercises seem to be designed for adolescent groups. It would have been nice to know that before purchasing. However, many are adaptable to adult groups, and are quite useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful for variety of clients, May 1, 2010

I'm currently using this book in a group with adults that primarily have schizophrenia. The activities are designed that they could work with a variety of ages and needs. So far there has only been one exercise that didn't seem to fit the needs of my particular group. Overall, I find the book a very useful tool.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected, March 28, 2010

I really needed a simple format, easy instructions and quick activities. I am afraid this was a bit more than that and too much on writing and time consuming. If you need more in depth and have time, this might help, otherwise you will find yourself passing it up in favor of others.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good resource, November 1, 2008
I've reviewed this book and find it to have a lot of good resources for future use in my work doing groups. The groups as presented are easy to follow with good handout materials to be copied.

Just bought this book to use in groups and loaned it to a colleague of mine before I read it. He said that it was wonderful and that I should go ahead and find the time to read it. He was right, this book is going to be enormously useful to me.
