5.0 out of 5 stars Ancient Way to keep Fit, November 9, 2006

I find this book recommendable for both beginners and advance practitioners with or without any practical experience in Tai chi, Chi Kung ,etc. There is a wide selection of methods and techniques to choose from.
The book gives a short description of the history of the various Methods and Techniques and informs the reader on the pupose of the exercises in enhancing health or as a preventive measure against certain ailments. The Illustrations are very clear, the presentation is well structured and the instructions are so simple and easy to follow. I really enjoy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty nice, March 5, 2010

I bought this book not to learn Qigong, but to enjoy the beauty of old paintings from different centuries that deal with martial arts. This book does exactly what I was looking for. It is a collection of paintings and translations of the texts found in different locations and dated back to different times. The paintings are carefully beautified, sometimes the authors imitated the original styles to add missing parts showing strong expertise. It is not a text book to learn Qigong, even you possibly may do it when you are still familiar with all important principles. It is a mobile museum and as that it is great and worth to find its way into your book shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but not for beginners, September 19, 2011

In this book you will learn over 30 types of chinese exercise routines that are mostly thousands of years old. The art work is beautiful and the instructions clear.
But this book is not for novices. You should have a working knowldege of qi gong, brocade exercises, taoist yogay etc. All in all, a great, inspirational and useful read. However it always best to have an experienced teacher hopefully from asia with a couple of decaeds experience because you can raise your chi too quickly and create real problems for yourself that are not easily resolved.
