This item is crucial for dual hose portable air conditioners that are sold with only 1 hose like the one I have. The single hose systems are less efficient and to buy the more costly double hose system using one hose is a waste of money and energy. Efficiency increase requires 2 hoses to be used, not 1 hose and a dummy cap where the other hose should be. The second hose is not available where the air conditioners are sold.
