The New Atrocity,
By Michael (FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exhibit B: The Human Condition (Audio CD)
After tours with Kreator, Arch Enemy, Testament, and Megadeth among others, a re-recording of Bonded By Blood, and the release of their live cd/dvd back in January, Exodus have finally returned with Exhibit B: The Human Condition, the continuation of The Atrocity Exhibition. The long wait was certainly worth it as the band has proven once again that they can deliver. Where Exhibit A was dark and thrashy, and even had more groove elements, Exhibit B is even darker and more epic with more longer tracks averaging around 7 minutes (the longest track is 9 minutes and 32 seconds), and even fewer moments to catch your breath. Thrash metal and Exodus fans take notice: Exodus is back.

I saw Exodus open for Testament and Megadeth in March, and that was my first time seeing Exodus live. I have always wanted to see them live before then, and I was glad I saw them on that tour. That is when I, as well as other Exodus fans, heard some songs off Exhibit B, and I knew then I was going to get that cd. I love the cover art to this one, I want to get the cover art as a tattoo somewhere.
I like all the songs on this album equally, but if I had to choose the top three songs that stick out the most to me would have to be: March of The Sycophants Hammer And Life A Perpetual State Of Indifference Like I said before, I like all the songs equally, but those three songs I like the most.

Fresh modern thrash, with all the energy of original Exodus recordings from the mid 80s. Stands well along side new Slayer, Kreator, Megadeth, Warbringer, and others. Highly recommended.

Another Masterpiece!!!,

As good a lineup as Exodus has ever had. Another brilliant slab of Thrash Metal. If you can't appreciate the mix of sheer brutality and great song writing, you don't know Metal very well. Exodus has proven once again that they are well within their prime. For those who say it sounds the same, get out of the past and realize that great Thrash is alive and well!!! Raise your glasses high to Exodus and to many more awesome albums to come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another great release from a legendary band. Not quite as old school as some, but very much in the realm of thrash metal and heavy as hell. Killer tracks include 'The Ballad of Leonard and Charles', 'Hammer and Life', 'Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)', 'March of the Sycophants' and 'The Sun Is My Destroyer'.
Thrash is alive and well in 2010, 'Exhibit B: The Human Condition' is an instant classic along side the likes of Heathen's 'The Evolution of Chaos' and Overkill's 'Ironbound'.

This is what real music is all about. Exhibit B is an amazing thrash masterwork from an amazing band that has always stayed true to their sound. As soon as I popped this gem in I couldn't stop listening to it until it was over, then I has to start it over again. Exodus is a pure thrash no posing band that always delivers. \m/\m/ Amazing album. The masters are back.

Exodus is one of the few bands whose newer output is as good as (and in many cases, improves upon) their early material. This album is no exception. Gary Holt and Lee Altus are guitar double-trouble, Tom Hunting is a drum GOD, Jack Gibson is an amazing bassist, and Rob Dukes is a more-than-worthy successor to Baloff and Zetro. Exodus is definitely born again harder.

Not content to deliver the same...,

Exhibit B is a tumultuous answer to Exhibit A and a churning river of barbwire. Sneap delivers a slightly different sounding beast in regards to production, but this is razor sharp and brutal with incising melody. Gary Holt is playing like a man possessed and the ferocious rhythm guitar dominates the mix. I hate to make a comparison since his blistering tone and style are all his own, but I hear the best of both Mark Morton and Jeff Waters in his playing. Hunting is no Paul Bostaph, but he's no slacker and it's cool that he has returned. Rob Dukes is melding better with the songwriting instead of superimposing...check out Democide for a sense of this, and he sounds like a beast on The Sun is My Destroyer. I haven't had a chance to read the lyrics since I dl'd the MP3 album from Amazon, but the songwriting is your standard thrash fare.
This album is solid from beginning to end. Exodus continues building on their sound while standing in metal's peripheral vision as the most underrated band out of the Bay area.

SOME OF THE BEST THRASH EVER RECORDED!,
This review is from: Exhibit B: The Human Condition (Audio CD)
I have been a fan and follower of the bay area thash scene since its very beginning, so needless to say I am very exited. Who would have ever guessed 25 years ago that in 2010 Exodus would release there second best album...Fast, deadly, and brutal!!..Songs like " The ballad of Leonard and Charles, Good Riddance, and Burn Hollywood Burn, create a adrenaline rush that almost causes a uncontrollable spontaneous violent combustion!!..Exodus has been on fire lately, I recently saw them absolutely destroy Testament and Megadeth live (and I am a fan of Testament and Megadeth) and on Exhibit B, to put it simply, they have released some of the best thrash ever recorded.

I'm not sure what happened...maybe Gary has been listening to too much Metallica, because these songs are WAAAAY too long for thrash. You have to be a better songwriter than this to pull off songs over 5 mins...otherwise you are rehashing the riffs too long. That is exactly what happens on this CD for me. The riffs are just all running together and I just want it to end halfway through the songs. None of the lyrics/vocals are catchy or entertaining - they are just serviceable which is nothing new for Dukes. The production is fine and the riffs are what you would expect from newer Exodus. Overall this cd is just OK.
