FABULOUS,
By Yvonne Woods (Washington State, USA) - See all my reviews

This is one of the best cd's I've heard in ages. What a fantastic and innovative group of songs! It's a totally different sound than anyone's come out with in a long time. Kind of alternative pop, not rock, but with a little funk thrown in for good measure. Straight Girl of the Universe is a great song! Love these guys and look forward to more!

"the exies" are well on their way!,

I love this record! With its 11 songs plus 1 hidden bonus track, it has something for everyone. "1970+" is a great mellow song about lead singer Scott Stevens 1970's heroes, "Rocket Balloon" brings a 60's feel, and the records first single, "Baby's Got A New Revelation" will have you singing along and wanting more. This 4-man band out of L.A. will go far with is solid drumming, bass, great song writing, and guitar that will leave you mesmerized.

Riff rock at its best,

I worked with these guys in the production of the album and I must say, artists like them do not come around everyday. When I was in the studio, I heard all of these songs a hundred times over, and here I am, buying the CD. I recommend this CD to everyone who listens to alternative rock. As for the Exies, this will not be the last you've heard from them.

The Exies - The Next Big Thing,
By
This review is from: Exies (Audio CD)
I have all three of The Exies albums and this one is by far the least popular, not for good reason I might add.
This album does sound a little different to both, the later efforts, 'Inertia' and 'Head For The Door', nor does it boast a number of stand-out tracks. However, this album is far more consistent than the other two. There is not a song on the CD that I disliked and my favourites included 'Baby's Got A New Revelation', 'Big Head' and 'Ego Tryptophane'. I do feel as though this is The Exies album that has somewhat been lost in the shuffle. I tried to download it from the internet for a test play and found most of the songs unavailable. Meanwhile none of the songs can be trialled at The Exies website. It is really an album you just have to take a risk for and most listeners will be rewarded. In conclusion, if you want to listen to a consistently solid rock album or you are a fan of The Exies more recent work then this is a must for your collection. On the other hand, if you own this album I thoroughly advise also purchasing 'Inertia' and 'Head For The Door'. You will find The Exies continue to impress and improve.

Honestly, I don't know how you could sell this CD for three dollars, I mean you could have sold it for ten and I would have still eaten it up. It is hands down the best CD I own and is in fantastic condition. How you pulled this trick I do not know, I mean the CD is close to 12 years old and without a scratch (There is one visible scrape down the back of the case, but I think that's the shippers' fault). Thank you so much and keep up the good work. People should take notes.

This is a classic as far as I'm concerned,

I've been listening to The Exies for years now, and this is the one album I'm ashamed to say I always put on the back-burner. Now I'm kicking myself for not ever buying it before now. I grew up during the 90's, and I hate where rock music has gone to in the last decade. This cd brought back the true essence of what I was looking for with rock music. It's not great compared to pathetic money-making mainstream music, but it's great when compared to resectable rock. Every song on this album has a catchy melody. I can start this cd from the first track and let it play to the end, and it's over before I even realize it. Head for the Door was always my favorite cd, but I think this one might have taken the lead.

The Exies at their Best,

I really enjoy this period of The Exies' career. Super melodic, creative and interesting songs, with a nice punch. I like Intertia quite a bit, too, but later releases seemed to compromise melody for more heaviness. I suppose their main target audience prefers that, but for me I prefer this album.

tiresome loops,
By EibonPanteraNecrophagia (OREGON) - See all my reviews

the loops on this release are tiresome, and i never really get an opportunity to crawl out from the space bubble. perhaps a repusion or brigther death now or merzbow cover would have lent some life to this release. there is no relief to be found here. No hearing aide, no justice, no peace.
