At first listen, I did not like Exile but after buying their Greatest Hits I was really taken in by their music-some of the most upbeat and very best of the 80's country music scene. I wish that performers in Country these days could posess the raw talent of this group that easily traversed both the pop (Kiss You All Over) and country music world. I enjoy every one of their songs and are one of the few groups I know that you can listen to all day. I just wish that all of their greatest hits could be on one CD. "She's Too Good To Be True"-a 1987 #1 Hit has become exceptionally hard to find.

Exile has had quite an influence on the music world: "The Closer You Get" and "Take Me Down" were originally recorded by Exile in 1980 and both became major hits for Alabama, "Heart And Soul" became a Top 10 Pop hit for Huey Lewis & The News and "It Ain't Easy Bein' Easy", penned by Exile, is Janie Fricke's signature song. It was a shame they broke up when they did, but undoubtedly JP was tired after several miserable years trying to make ends meet in the pop scene dumpster between "Kiss You All Over" and a 4-year hot streak on the country charts. After he left, Exile was never the same and forgotten in today's world of cookie-cutter, over produced Nashville pop-country (and they criticized "Urban Cowboy"?).

I began listening to country music about the time Exile switched from pop to country. I immediately fell in love with these guy's music. Their debut release is available on the "Hang on to Your Heart/Exile" CD; it was by far their best recording. However, you can catch a few of those songs ("Woke Up in Love" and "I Don't Wanna Be a Memory") and many other hits of theirs on this Greatest Hits package. I loved all these songs back in the day, and now, I still find them enjoyable. If you like this release, check out the recommendations I made. I would suggest two others, but they aren't available anymore, which is a shame!!

This CD makes me wish I were back in the '80s experiencing when this music was becoming popular. This group's carefree, light, laidback sound pretty much epitomizes country music of the mid to late '80s. From "Woke Up In Love" to "She's a Miracle", this CD is replete with easy to remember tunes that most of us probably danced to with our girlfriends (or boyfriends for those readers who happen to be women) or significant others when we weren't otherwise occupied with them. I can't imagine a country music aficionado not being interested in this one.

Exile is awesome. Even though I'm only16, I still love them. I recently saw them in concert and J.P. told me and my cousin that it was rare (and cool) to see people our age who knew all their songs. They were really nice and put on a great show. Plus, this CD is great. :) Just like all their others>> :)

Exile, a band that started out as a smooth rock band of the 70's, then slid across into the country category in the 80's. Their smooth harmonny along with catchy lyrics makes this greatest hits a must have for an Exile fan. I saw these guys at a concert in Kansas City a few years ago and instantly fell in love with their music. Their voices are perfection and their version of People Get Ready will leave you with goosebumps. This CD showcases their superb writing, singing and musical ability. For those of us who love Mid 80's country, before the Garth Brooks Mega Marketing Era, this is a real treat for your ears.

I really like the vocal harmonies of Exile. The songs that are on this greatest hits album really bring out the true ability of all of the band members. Crazy For Your Love & She's A Miracle would have to be my top two favorite songs. I bought this cassette at Target with a gift certificate my Aunt gave me for Christmas several years ago. I was surprised that the hit songs I Can't Get Close Enough & Even Now weren't placed on this greatest hits album. I do in fact recall that I Can't Get Close Enough was a number one hit for Exile back in 1989. Even Now was never a number one but it did place in the top 20 on the country charts. I wish Exile would put out some new material in the future because they really have a great sound. As a radio broadcaster with three years of experience I think that Exile should always be inside country radio station's music libraries.

All of the songs are re-recordings, but since they were recorded back in the day they are better quality than most re-records. They still are not the radio versions that one should expect from a greatest hits album.

I am Leslye,Les Taylor of Exile's neice and I love Exile but not just because Uncle Les is a part of the band! I own every album that Exile has recorded while Uncle Les has been a member of the group and this is deffintly one of my favorites! If u like this collection of hits then u should check out all of the other Exile recordings as well! I would like to tell everyone that currently Exile is on the road and looking for a new record label to sign with and hopefully they will be back in the recording studio soon! Again I will say that Exile is touring the U.S. as we speak so look for them in a town near u!

One Of The Groups Of The 80's Has Their Best Hits On This Album. If You Are A Fan Of Exile This CD Brings Out The Best Of Them. The Songs That Made This Group Superstars Are: "Give Me One More Chance", "She's A Miricle" And "I Could Get Use To You". This CD Is A Must Buy.

Exile, founded by J P Pennington, began as a group as far back as 1963 (as a rock'n'roll group called The Exiles), but changed their name to Exile in 1973. They had one major international hit and several other (minor) hits. The major hit, Kiss you all over, topped the American charts and also made the British top ten, In both countries, they followed up with some minor hits and it seemed that they were just another pop group who would disappear quickly. However, their songs were good and attracted a number of covers, particularly by country singers although Huey Lewis and the News were successful with Heart and soul. Among the country singers to cover Exile's songs were Dave and Sugar (Stay with me), Janie Fricke (It ain't easy being easy) and Alabama (The closer you get, Take me down). All these covers did well on the country charts with the two by Alabama going to number one.

Eventually Exile, with a new lead singer (Les Taylor), decided to try their luck as a country group. Their rocking, upbeat, pop-country music proved to be very successful for a few years. Some people found them too slick but I found their music highly entertaining. Now that Exile were having hits with their own songs (often going all the way to number one in the country charts), covers of their songs became rarer although the Forester sisters scored a huge country hit with Just in case, a track from one of Exile's country albums.

This collection contains nine of their best country hits (most of them number ones), plus a re-recording of Kiss you all over. You can find the original version of that song, plus their other pop songs, on a different compilation covering that period of their career. My favorite tracks here are Woke up in love, I don't want to be a memory, Give me one more chance, She's a miracle and Crazy for your love. A few hits are missing including three further number ones (It'll be me, She's too good to be true, I can't get close enough) but a couple of twofers are available for those that want the original albums.

This is a great overview of one of the best rocking country groups I've heard.
