3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By N. Hecht on March 12, 2013
This book was a sweet, well-written historical novel. It had a good amount of colorful, lovable characters and a brave female heroine. There were some caricatured characters, which made it not quite "American Girls" material, but it still exposed kids to foreign countries and cultures, with enough drama to keep it moving but not scary. In short, a good solid book for girls in the 8-12 age range.
