This review is from: The Exiles of Damaria, Book 1: Riddles & Dreams (Paperback)
Riddles & Dreams (Book I of the Exiles of Damaria series) contibutes an enjoyable reading experience to the tradition of "quest" fantasies. The characters are different enough from others in the genre to give the book a unique feel but with many of the same qualities that make them easy to identify with. There is the hint that technology or technological bases for some of the aspects of this new world of fantasy lurks in its history. This brings a bit of mystery to the story and adds to the desire to read more. While we sympathize with the plights of Riddle, Moonlight, Gorghoz and their companions we also are curious as to how they (their ancestors) came about getting their powers. This book (and the series to come) would serve as a good gift for someone who has enjoyed and is already somewhat familiar with the genre. |
