The Chapter about Reciprocity Can Take Years off Most Therapy,
By A Health Psychologist (Oklahoma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exiles from Eden: Psychotherapy from an Evolutionary Perspective (Hardcover)
Not for someone looking for a simple light manuscript, this is an exceptional book. Perhaps champions of women might not care too much for some of Glantz's concepts regarding females, but overall this standard text contributes a lot toward furthering the understanding of evolutionary mechanisms. Glantz and Pearce's explanations about a time in human evolution when we became meat eaters, killing animals for food and then dividing up the meat which resulted in a dilemma of 'who owed whom what' - unbalanced reciprocity of give and take - is a masterful way of looking at root causes of ongoing mental health problems and their solutions. The mutual exchange chapter makes this book worth its price and worth reading. Anyone providing therapy or receiving therapy should relish the potential for change that can result from reading and putting the authors' reciprocity issues concepts into practice in everyday life.

Questions your moral value systems on Sexuality.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Exiles from Eden: Psychotherapy from an Evolutionary Perspective (Hardcover)
Cold, but logically precise analysis of Human Sexuality based on human evolution. Logical explanation of why males and females behave in a seeminingly incompatible fashion, yet only continued to reinforce this behavior. Puts Sexuality and morality in their proper perspective. Best read of my life!
