Larry Bond has been slipping quite a bit lately, what with the co-authored books which are kind of lame and seemed to have just become another has been. In Exit Plan, though, Bond brings back his A game. He must have written this one himself. I could hardly put it down. It even seemed realistic. Very good SEAL action, naval action, submarine warefare...this book has it all it seems.

However, perhaps most interesting is the outstanding job the author does of describing the terrain inside Iran. Not sure if Bond just did a great job in research, or if he actually was foolish enough to visit the country in person and risk his rear end. (It seems to me he may very well have been there).

To summarize, I liked this book a lot, and can only hope his books will be this good from now on.

If you like spy/adventure stories with lots of action, don't miss this one. Sea chases, land chases and sub chases all add up to an intriguing story. The plot seems to take unexpected turns on nearly every page, making this book hard to put down after a day's reading. The only negative comment is that a map of the area would have been most helpful.

Iran has bragged themselves into a corner. Half of the West and Israel believes that Iran is close to building "the bomb." But, the mullahs have a problem--they can't make their centrifuges work, and if they admit it they become the laughingstock of the Muslim world. What to do?

Larry Bond takes this idea and crafts and intriguing tale. Opal, an Iranian spy has the answer, and to obtain the proof needed to prevent Israel's strike on Iran, Opal must be rescued. But of course, this proves to be easier said than done.

I am an author who writes stories with plots containing nuclear and thermonuclear weapons. Subjects I am qualified to write about since I have a degree in nuclear engineering and served my active duty time as an EOD and NET officer assigned to the Defense Atomic Support Agency in Albuquerque, NM. I cringe when reading stories with nuclear weapons written by authors who do not understand what they are writing about. Not so with Larry Bond. I have read and reviewed Larry Bond's First Team: Fires of War and Cold Choices and found both to be well written and factual. So too is EXIT PLAN. In the prologue, Bond accurately describes a centrifuge array, uranium hexafluoride, the Natanz underground chambers, and the accident. Well done Larry.

The story begins after the accident. Iranian General Moradi is on his way to Natanz. Moradi had been selected by the supreme leader of Iran to head the nuclear weapons program. When he arrives, he realizes he has a problem. Like Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, everyone is watched, and Moradi is watched by Major Rahim.

I just finished this book and I absolutely enjoyed it. The plot and characters were surperb.
As an ex-submarine sailor I was impressed with his detail and knowledge. I hope the Iranians
do not read it because it may make them smarter and more dangerous. His knowledge about the
Iranian military was also amazing as was his knowledge about the Iranian southern sea coast. His
story also tells us about the SEALS, their training, courage and tenacity. We are indeed lucky
to have them on our side and authors like Larry Bond to tell their tale.

When I first started "Exit Plan" and realized it was centered on the Iranian nuclear program, I groaned a bit, thinking it was going be another ticking-clock 'can we stop the nuclear bomb going off' plot. All of that has been done pretty often before, after all. I was pleasantly surprised in this book to find Larry Bond taking his story in an unexpected direction. A fresh approach to the genre is great. The book is likely to get you thinking about the realities of today's Middle East and the future of the U.S. military, too.

If you like military thrillers, you'll like this.

More of the same from Larry Bond, and that's a compliment.

I wish he would write more books like Cauldron, but given that he is going to write less big picture--more individually focused books, I'm still glad that he is putting effort into original novels.

I'll buy everything he writes himself as long as they stay as good as this series

This is my first Larry Bond novel. It will not be my last. I really enjoyed reading this and felt like I was right in the action with the characters. If you are undecided, read it. You will not be disappointed. Plenty of action from start to finish with situations that feel like you are there. I don't want to give away ideas from the book, but it is as good as it gets.
