5.0 out of 5 stars I'm A Hero, You're Safe Now!
I just bought this game recently from my local videogame store. After having read a few favorable reviews I had decided to purchase it. If you're into 2D platformers, there's a good chance you will enjoy this game. Sort of a throwback to the SNES days, this game controls much like "BlackThorne" and "Flash Back" for those of you that remember. The graphics are excellent,...

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm A Hero, You're Safe Now!, May 15, 2006

I just bought this game recently from my local videogame store. After having read a few favorable reviews I had decided to purchase it. If you're into 2D platformers, there's a good chance you will enjoy this game. Sort of a throwback to the SNES days, this game controls much like "BlackThorne" and "Flash Back" for those of you that remember. The graphics are excellent, very similar to the style of "Viewtiful Joe" with a 1950's theme.

The game is based on a series of rescue scenarios, which you as Mr. ESC must find the victims and get them to safety. This is not always easy however, because some of these victims may be injured, or not have the skills nessecary to navigate a particular obstacle.

If you're into puzzle games that will make you think before you act, then this might be for you. The gameplay is quite addictive and very fun. It's not your typical platformer, so be forwarned this is no "Mario Brothers" clone. With Mr. ESC, you'll push boxes, press buttons and recruit victims to lend you a hand. All this makes for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Stylish Prince of Lemmings, September 5, 2006

Exit, one of the PSP's most unique games thus far, can be thought of as a mashup of Jordan Mechner's classic Prince of Persia (the 2D, puzzle-esque one, not the modern revivals) and Lemmings.

Mr. ESC, an escape artist who rescues people from dangerous situations for pay, uses only his wits and various objects (ropes, ladders, bridges, fire extinguishers) to get them out.

The graphics -- abstract, cel-shaded polygons -- are very striking and emphasize the puzzle-esque nature of the game. The music isn't as unique, but tense and fitting for the game.

Gameplay consists of two parts: moving Mr. ESC around (with D-pad and buttons) and directing the rescued persons to move out of harm's way or to assist Mr. ESC (using the analog nub and triangle). Mr. ESC moves in a rather stilted way, much like the old-school Prince, but controls are capable once you adjust to the slow pace.

And slow-paced this game is. Do not get this game for fast action or for fluid movement; get it for its uniquely involving gameplay and style. It's a long game, too, with many levels included and more downloadable. For its current budget price, it's a PSP must-have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, interesting and not too hard to learn, December 27, 2008

I received this for Christmas. It is fun to play and easy to learn. There are little on-screen prompts any time you encounter something new. This is a good way to hone problem-solving skills and keep your brain active.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes you smarter, January 11, 2007

There were a lot of articles a while ago about how some games could make you smarter and Exit is one of those (it wasn't mentioned in those articles, but I truly believe it does. I really like the game. It's all about strategies, and not only what you have to do as the rescuer but also the people that you are rescuing since they can help you.

I was expecting the graphics to be sort of low quality, but they look great!

I like to play this game on study breaks so that I don't feel like I am wasting my time... I may be getting smarter...
