A Kid's Review
I bought this single yesterday, and being an Utada fan, I thought it would surely impress me as it had with its previous remix single, "Devil Inside". I was looking forward that it would be a nice recovery from her debut album "EXODUS". Though it had a wide variety of original and catchy tunes, I felt it could have had much more.
This single is different.
1. Exodus '04 [Double J Radio Mix]- This remix is quite good. I am really happy with the elimination of the original "'04" part, which proves to me this won't be considered dated if played on the radio. I feel that Utada's voice seems to be heard the most here. It's also very catchy.
2. Exodus '04 [Josh Harris' Elektrik Radio] - Beginning in an electronic manner, the song is driven on a funky beat. It's sounds very electronic and robotic, but not monotonous. Another great song.
3. Exodus '04 [Josh Harris vs. The MPC Radio] - Wow. It's different. A steady beat and grungy feel make this feel separated, but it still hangs on to me, as I wonder why the heck Utada is stuttering. One of my favorites.
4. Exodus '04 [Josh Harris' Exodus Experience] - The vocals are choppy, but the smooth beat and backgrond make this an interesting remix, one I would hear in clubs.
5. Exodus '04 [Double J Extended Mix] - Same as the first song, only longer. I don't really like the last beats in the end.
6. Exodus '04 [Peter Bailey Dub] - It starts with increasing excitement, and becomes an active and unique remix. Utada's voice echos with partial lyrics, the important ones.
7. Exodus '04 [JJ Flores Dub #1] - I really like the blended lyrics, and it matches nicely with the beat. The pausing moment where "Now I am ready." is sung brought my attention back to this repeating pattern. It goes on a long time..
8. Exodus '04 [Kriya vs. Velez Progressive Trance Mix] - Fastly paced, this song slows, muffles and ochos the vocals. Truly unlike any other remix on the CD.
9. Exodus '04 [Kriya vs. Velez Electro House Mix] - Very electric, but the repeating "Exoduses" make this a little dry.
10. Exodus '04 [JJ Flores Dub #2] - I don't know why I like this better than Dub #1, but I guess it's because it has a lot more "ooomph". It's pretty much the same, but everything seems to be increased in power by about 75%.
Island Def Jam had said this would release in early 2005. It's June. Though this single is a fantastic comeback, new music from Utada would be amazing.
GO UTADA!! WOO-HOO!

I miss Deep River, her new albums have been AMAZING as well !, September 17, 2008
I give this album a 4 but I am a die-hard Utada fan and I honestly like all the songs.
However, I would only recommend it to die hard fans. The generic public would not find this album too appealing. You might like songs like Exodus '04 (the original), Kremlin Dusk(maybe),and You Make Me Want To Be A Man Bloodshy & Avant Mix...
If you're new to Utada, I HIGHLY recommend however that you listen to the DEEP RIVER album. I suppose I would also recommend the Prisoner of Love and Flavor of Life singles. If you're curious as to what they sound like, try typing in the songs [...]
But overall, THIS album is definitely not her best.

don't buy if you like Utada, February 16, 2009
These are various remixes of one song. None are very good. This woman is a wonderful singer/songwriter/artist. I love her work. I generally find these unlistenable. If this is representative of American releases for her, it's small wonder she hasn't taken off here.
Buy Utada, but don't waste your money on this one and please don't judge her by it.
