This is a good study for lay people with solid scholarship behind it. The author gives good background material and asks thought provoking questions. This is great for small groups.

I was really pleased by this book. It's not overly technical so it's good for sermon preparation. And it's broken into the lectionary passages so it's not too much material to get through.
