Book Description

November 1998 Interpretation Bible Studies
Exodus is a compelling narrative of three characters: the God of Israel, who rescues a people in captivity after years of apparent silence; Moses, the leader of Israel, who reluctantly accepts his calling and goes on to become the giver of the Law; and the people of Israel, who struggle to be faithful to God after facing near extinction at the hands of its captors. In the weaving together of their stories, Exodus becomes a story for our time - a story about seeking and finding a God who redeems us in our moments of separation and sin. Designed for adults and older youth, Interpretation Bible Studies can be used in small groups, in church school classes, in large group presentations, or in personal study. Each volume focuses on ten key passages from a book of the Bible and can serve as the basis for a ten-session study or be easily modified for shorter or longer schedules.

This is a good study for lay people with solid scholarship behind it. The author gives good background material and asks thought provoking questions. This is great for small groups.

This review is from: Exodus (Interpretation Bible Studies) (Paperback)
I was really pleased by this book. It's not overly technical so it's good for sermon preparation. And it's broken into the lectionary passages so it's not too much material to get through.
