Book Description

February 25, 2008
This is the story of a faerie named Io. Destined for greatness beyond her tiny world, she must first defend her siblings from an imp named Gorusio bent on making them his army to enslave their giant hosts. With the help of her eldest sisters Shelo, Niorset and Dila, Gorusio turns her family against her. Will Io submit to her own self-doubts even as her closest friends treat her like a vagabond? Will she give up, allowing Gorusio to warp her brothers and sisters into “mana vampyres” like him, or will she listen to the words of hope from the mysterious elf maiden named Hunter? One thing is for certain, Io, the legacy of a lost civilization, stands alone against the prejudice of her own kin and the evil imp and his dark desires.

This review is from: Exordium of the Faerie: Io's Exodus (Paperback)
This is the story of a faerie girl named Io, an adopted blue faerie in a family of greens. All of her life she had been different, unique, and for this she is treated like an outcast by her siblings. This is the only life Io has ever known, and that always made it easy to ignore. Still, when the tricks the faerie play on the giant humans, elves and dwarves of their city become dangerous, Io cannot remain idle.

Io learns that an evil imp named Gorusio has returned to Appechel with a plan to enslave her family, corrupting them, changing them into mana vampyres forever hungry for the magical energy found in all living creatures with the giants for cattle. Unfortunately, Io cannot rouse the Queen Mother and her eldest sisters serve the imp.

Will Io succumb to Gorusio's seductive offers of power and glory? Will she falter in the face of her own terror, or will she heed the advice of the mysterious elf named Hunter and stand up to Gorusio's evil desire? In any event, Io will have to become more than even she knows. She will have to rise above her fear and do what is right, even though the consequences seem too horrid to bear.

Io's story was written during the author's exacuation from his home town in Lafitte, Louisiana when Hurricane Katrina struck. It is a tale meant to inspire those whose lives have taken a dramatic turn for the worse, for anyone who has had to make a sacrifice to help others. It is also meant to empower women and girls of all ages to strive for their true potential, to never give up despite the bleakness of the odds.
