Very Durable!, July 26, 2004
This review is from: Expansion Track Pack (Toy)
I have two extremely active boys that play with these train sets. We have some of the name brand sets and a LOT of the Imaginarium sets, the only peices we have had to break (splinter) are the name brand peices. They are well worth the money!
The only problem I have is the tressel bridge, which doesn't seem to stand up to very active play--mind you though that my boys are extremely active! The bridge just keeps falling down during play.

Not enough curved pieces, September 2, 2004

The tracks are great although with just this set one can not make a complete track - you have to buy more sets to do that.

Hard to beat for the price, December 14, 2005

We only own Imaginarium train sets... with the exception of a few Thomas cars that came packaged with videos/DVDs. We have played with Brio track at my MIL's house, Thomas track at my neighbor's house, and of course the Thomas track set up everywhere trains are sold, for the kiddies to play with.
I don't know what to say about this set other than I have no complaints. :-) For the money you get a decent amount of pieces. Of course you have to acknowlege that this is an EXPANSION set to augment your other train sets, it doesn't come with any train cars or little accessories.
The only difference I can see between these pieces and the Thomas pieces is the Thomas ones have ties printed on them. For that reason even though the pieces fit together, they might look a little weird together. Not somethiing my kid would be too bent out of shape over, but some kids can be more particular about that sort of thing.
The elevated portion, as mentioned, doesn't stay up terribly well, but this seems to be the case across brands. It's not exclusive to this line. The solid tunnel/bridge thingie is a much better way to go to elevate the track and I wish this came with one of those, instead. (Comes with the figure-8 set)
As for people who complain about the Imaginarium track pieces breaking too easily, I have *no* idea what their children are doing with their toys. My child is very active and very into everything he can possibly get into and he has broken his share of toys that may have been labeled as toddler-appropriate but were not really built to stand up to toddlers... but I can't imagine him breaking one of these track pieces. I can't even see my husband or myself breaking one. They are quite sturdy!
Good choice to add on to what you have.
