Book Description

9 and up4 and upOutriders

A Children's Book-of-the-Month Club Selection

FROM THE BLOG OF CAM WALKER

Eagle Tower is just about the most important place in the world to my friends and me. The first Outrider expedition ever was a hike to Eagle Tower. For us, it's kind of like the spot where my friends and I became Outriders. So when we found out that a mining company was going to tear the tower down in five days, we had to plan one last expedition there.

One thing I can say about expeditions is that most times they turn out a lot differently than you planned. For instance, here is a bunch of things we didn't know would happen in Pine Hollow:

1 THAT WE WOULD RUN INTO A GROUP OF KIDS FROM UP IN THE BLUFFS WHO SORT OF FELT THE SAME WAY ABOUT EAGLE TOWER AS WE DID

2 THAT OUR FRIEND BETTINA WAS CONCEALING SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT FROM ALL OF US

3 THAT THE MINING COMPANY WOULD START DYNAMITING FIVE DAYS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

Oh, and I probably should mention that we discovered a lost city and were almost trapped in there for eternity, but you can read all about it in the rest of my blog....

4.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, August 6, 2008
Cam Walker is back -- and getting into more trouble then ever.

The Outriders are trying to raise money for their next expedition to Eagle Tower, located inside Pine Hollow State Forest, and they need to do it quickly, before it gets torn down. Not one to pass up a mission, Cam, Bettina, and Wyatt all head towards Bluff's Country Club to take some golf balls. Sounds like a crazy idea but it works for them.

Not one to brag (of course), but Cam's plans usually work out fine. Since there have been numerous break-ins at the Country Club, however, security is tighter. Cam and Bettina unknowingly trip off an alarm, causing security to go all-out, not wanting to let them get away. Wyatt was able to evade the guards, and with some quick thinking, Cam and Bettina were also able to escape, but without any golf balls.

The mission has failed. So the Outriders continue to brainstorm what else they could do to raise money. If only they knew what was in store for them if they actually reach Eagle Tower. With a weird history and some things that no one really knows about, Eagle Tower intrigues them. It is a mystery that they want to solve, especially Cam.

Along the way, though, Cam is offered a proposal that is too good to be true but also means he has to switch sides. Not only that, but he surprisingly gets closer to the treasure that he has been wanting to discover, and secrets will be revealed about certain members of the Outriders. Cam is in for the ride of his life, and it is not smooth at all.

An adventurous read for all ages, EXPEDITION TO PINE HOLLOW isn't only thrilling, but also jam-packed with action that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is another daring story that contains interesting history in the already intriguing OUTRIDERS series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Amazing Series, October 15, 2007
A Kid's Review
This might be one of my favorite series ever. This book was given to me as a gift from the author Ed Decter. As soon as I read the first page of the first book about Cam Walker and his buddies I would not look up until the last page of the last book. This action/mystery/adventure series is a great book if you like suspense, wows, and laughs. This is one great book! This is one book I enjoy reading over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book You'll Pine For, September 25, 2007
I have read the first two Outriders book and they were excellent. The third one, Expedition to Pine Hollow, was no exception. The Outriders embark on yet another journey that involves their favorite place, Eagle Tower, where the Outriders became the Outriders. Readers learn something new about Ty and Bettina along with some secrets about pirates and a Native American tribe. The book was exciting and fast-paced. The unique writing style keeps even younger readers interested. I highly recommend this book for a fun and funny read.
