This game isn't mindless! I completed it (after many long hours) and I was only able to do so by using my mind and trying to figure out how to destroy the enemy without losing all of my men. You have to have cunning and daring or else your dead. Basically, it's like guerrilla warfare. The graphics in this one are really great. But this game really hits home that war sucks. You see that a solder really is expendable. You have to be in order to win. However, its a great game to relieve some stress.

Expendable is not a complex games requires hundreds of hours to comprehend it's subtle nuances. It is a pulse pounding, shoot the c**p out of everything, explosion fest. You play a marine that has been dropped onto a colony over run by hostile aliens. You must traverse each level, shooting the bad guys and find checkpoints before the time limit expires. Not a new idea but very well executed. This game can be picked up and enjoyed immediately. The control system is simple and responsive, with the one exception that sometimes it seems that you can't quite get the angle right. The gameplay is simple and straightforward - shoot everything. The graphics and sounds are what make this game worth owning. The open CGI shots show that the makers of this game put effort into the visuals and this carries forward into the game itself. And the sound is fantastic, the explosions are deafening when played through a surround sound system. For a cheap price ..., this game is a great buy.

Instant Action with minimal learning curve!,

This is coming from the perspective of a 35-year-old who probably shouldn't be playing games but still enjoys shooting up a few aliens after a hard day at work. I love this game! Action, lots of shooting and you don't need to spend too much time reading the manual or listening to the game tell some flippin' story in Japanese Anime-style drama. Just get me to the fighting and let me shoot, throw grenades and see if I can accomplish my mission.... getting to the next level. Thanks.

Only get the game if you enjoy shooting and blasting everything in sight. Great graphics, sound, and gameplay. Single player don't have much replay value, but playing with a friend is very fun, especially after a day of hard work!

The game play is weak, with all the explosions and lights going off its almost impossible to keep track of your character on the screen. I heard this game was comparable to Contra witch I loved. I was lied to. This game looks like something off of the original NES got a graphical makeover and nothing more. And the replay value is zip. Its the same bad guys in the same spots over and over, no artificial intelegence to speak of. Theres bad camera angles, bad transitions from screen to screen. It goes on and on and on.

This game, at first glance, looks very nice. However, after playing the game, you quickly realize that it doesn't play very well. It is a good time-killer if you are simply looking for something to relieve stress and to please the eye, but it is rather average in all other aspects.

This is your basic mindless shooter, reminiscent of such classics as Ikari Warriors and Loaded (for the Playstation). An excellent change of pace from many of today's games, which are sometimes over-complicated (not that there's anything wrong with that either). Two-player cooperative play is extra fun.Two not-so-minor things that keep this from being a five-star game. First, the characters (you and enemies) are too small...often times it is hard to determine exactly where you are on the screen. Second, in the two-player mode, your characters are hard to distinguish from each other. This leads to additional confusion, especially given the first problem I mentioned above. Still, this is a very fun game, easy to pick up and play, and the graphics are excellent if perhaps a bit too overwhelming.

I think the closest game to compare Expendable to is the old Reloaded game on the Playstation. It has the same fast and furious pace, and the gameplay is very good for those seeking mindless mayhem when there isn't time to play an adventure game or RPG.Unlike Reloaded, this game does not allow you to select different characters that are specialized in particular weapons. That would have given the game added replay value, perhaps increasing the fun score to 5 stars. Nonetheless, the assortment of weapons available and the eye watering visuals were enough to persuade me to play the game 5 times through now.

The only way I can tell I'm not at the arcade playing this game is that I'm sitting down. Great graphics and incredibly fast game play make for one great game. This game definitely makes use of the Sega Dreamcasts graphics potential. It's not so hard that you give up in frustration, but not so easy that you'll beat it in the first day. This is one of the better Sega Dreamcast games.

Expendable is the name of the game. So I played it once and threw it in the trash. I couldn't even give it away... Nobody wanted to suffer through the pile of garbage for the whole 20 minutes that I did. The graphics are very good and over the top(but WAY too small). The sound is pretty good too. Then you actually sit down to play this boring waste and it hits you... All you do is walk around killing the same three enemies and finding the key to the next door. Hey! It's Doom in a top down perspective! That's exactly what it is. Don't buy this one, even if it's the only game left to complete your collection of DC games. This ain't Pokemon, you don't have to catch them all. You definetly don't have to catch this one. Pass it on by.SegaCide |
