5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is sick!!!
The dude that gave this CD 1 star is crazy!!! ...This is their 4th album and all of them are top notch...Sublime is my favorite band, but for modern day bands I put them up there with Stoopid, Pepper etc...There could've been a few more tracks on this album considering one is a skit, another cover song and 2 songs from previous albums, but the new stuff like Paper...

3.0 out of 5 stars could be better
I like this group. Saw them live with 311 and were very good. The reggae songs are very good. The thrashing songs are not good, at all. Stick with reggae. Also, the singer sometimes sounds like cartoon character. Rather annoying. And PLEASE! No comedy!!!! Its never funny. If i wanted a comedy album, I would have bought one. Just kick those funky reggae vibes!

Best CD to find since Cronchitus came out by Slightly Stoopid. Everyone in this band is talented and uses it. They change up tempo in songs, tasty guitar licks, that reaggae bass line. Can't say enough about this classic CD. Good s%it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Talented Group In Decades, March 26, 2008
This review is from: The Expendables (Audio CD)
The Expendables are each extremely talented, and if you can appreciate great rock guitar playing, mixed with a California surf sound, then you will love this CD. It is addicting - the more you listen, the more you love it. We've seen them live 4 times now, and will continue to support them whenever they grace us with their appearances in Texas. They have transformed & expanded my musical tunnel view. I absolutely love them! AND they are very friendly & nice to talk to before & after their shows.

4.0 out of 5 stars Became a fan after seeing them live, February 29, 2008

Whomever decided to diss this CD is ridiculous. I don't think it's possible to be a Slightly Stoopid and Sublime fan and not LOVE this band!

This album is great! I have seen the Expendables play live twice and will be seeing them again this weekend. I live in Indiana and am not at all a friend of the band. I first saw the Expendables last April 2007 when they opened up for one of my favorite bands, G.Love and Special Sauce in Bloomington, IN. We had never heard of them before and were VERY happy to have experienced their show. My boyfriend and I became instant fans and quickly purchased "Open Container" and "Gettin' Filthy". My boyfriend loved them so much that he bought us tickets to see G.Love and the Expendables again for their IL show. We were so pumped to see the Expendables open and I think we were the only ones singing all the songs at the top of our lungs because, like us originally, the rest of the crowd had never heard the Expendables before.

Since we live in the Midwest, there aren't a ton of bands that come through and it's hard to hear about new bands that don't get radio play. After learning more about the Expendables, we also started listening to Slightly Stoopid and Pepper, which we had never heard before.

This album is great and you can tell the band has really grown up. I bought it the day it came out and love it! My favorite song is 'Ganja Smugglin' (an Eek-A-Mouse cover) because I remember when they played it at the first show and it was great! 'One More Night' and 'Down, Down, Down' complete my top 3 from the album.

Don't listen to what the bad reviewer said. These guys are great! They are definitely comparable to Slightly Stoopid and are currently on a Stoopid tour and record on the Stoopid label. I do agree there is some metal guitar with a reggae style, so if you're really not into guitar riffs at all, you probably should stick more with Stoopid.

Regardless, this is a great album and a really great up and coming band. I really hope they get to headline their own tour soon!

-Can't wait to see them this weekend when they open up for Slightly Stoopid in Bloomington, Indiana!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love It, October 8, 2008
This review is from: The Expendables (Audio CD)
I first learned about these guys when I saw them in concert with Slighty Stoopid at Stubbs in Austin, TX. Let me just say that the expendables are my favorite band and I'm positive that these guys will become one of the best bands ever. Once you hear their style you are hooked cause it's so new and pleasing to the ears. My way of describing their sound is by putting 311-Sublime and iron maiden all in one room. they are so versatile and the way they transist from a wicked reggae beat to a hard metal like solo and back to their reggae beat is something that no other band can touch. The singer, Geoff Weers has got to have one of the best voices that i've ever heard and he is super talented with crazy guitar solos. You have to check out this band and CD and then dive in to all of The Expendables old stuff cause it's even better than this breakout CD. They have alot of old stuff that didn't get enough attention and is very worthy of recognition. If you like this band and music check out these other great reggae/dub groups.....Mad Caddies....Slightly Stoopid.....Pepper.....Passafire....The Supervillians....Iration.....Tribal Seeds. The Expendables along with these other bands listed are apart of a movement that is exploding on the scene without the help from Mtv and other major media sources. This is the group and music that will make forget all about Sublime. This is the future of reggae rock.

The Expendables are one of my favorite bands and this is a very good album. It includes awesome songs like Eek-a-Mouse's Ganja Smuggling and Minimum Wage as well as a bunch of brand new songs that get better and better as you listen to them. Give it a listen and support a great band.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best live bands ever, September 28, 2008
This review is from: The Expendables (Audio CD)
I've been listening to the Expendables for about 6 years. I grew up with Stoopid in San Diego, Sublime is my all time favorite band, I love Pepper, Tsunami Rising, Rebelution etc.

The bottom line is that the Expendables write great music with their own unique style ( a great blend of many styles) and play it even better live. Buy the album and definitely go see them live. Not many bands sound even more amazing live than they do recorded and these guys definitely do. Don't get me wrong, I love Stoopid, but 9/10 times it's these guys playing on my stereo.

Whoever wrote the itunes review and the 1 star here really doesn't have any clue. It only takes 1 show to see who really rocks it and who's got the talent and I'll be the first to tell you that the Expendables rise to the top

If you are a fan of the surf, reggae, punk movement ie. Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, LBDAS, quit messin' around and buy this cd. After a couple spins you'll thank me. And no, I'm not a friend of the band.
