It’s a fact: new applications for wireless service are expected to propel the global growth rate of wireless telephony to over 26 percent annually. Although wireless telephony has been around since the 1980s, much confusion exists in the marketplace about the terms and technologies that allow our mobile world to exist.
This course provides an introduction to the three access methods currently used by our wireless telephony systems as well as discussions of how each technology works and its advantages. Participants will consider the number one issue that service providers face today: the need to increase capacity. In addition, this course will answer one of today’s most frequently asked mobile phone user questions: Why can’t mobile phones be used internationally? Finally, we conclude with a discussion of the service providers, manufacturers, and standards bodies who play an integral part in providing wireless technologies.
