DO NOT waste your money. Very disappointed at Amazon for passing this useless thing as a "guide" book.,

If I can give this a zero star, I would.
We are traveling to Taiwan next month. Since my wife will bring her Kindle, I thought this would be a good portable guidebook to have with us. What a complete waste of money and I feel so cheated. I guess I should have gotten the clue from the price. This "ebook" is essentially a reformatted material directly off the Wikitravel website. You can get identical information from Wikitravel for free, plus some beautiful photos to go with it. The information in this "guide" is completely general (like in Wikitravel, which typically provides overview of a country without too much specifics). For example, under the accommodation section ("Sleep"), all that's mentioned is that there are several lodging options ranging from budget to luxury hotels. Wow, really? I thought every hotel in Taiwan is a 5 star resort. No specifics on hotel names, address, phone number, maps, or even just where to look. Same for transportation and any other sections. Yes if we didn't know that in Taiwan there are transportation options ranging from bicycles to cars to planes, this would be quite informative I'm sure. If you think someone reformatting a free public domain information is worth $4, then knock yourself out. Otherwise please save your money and go directly to Wikitravel. Or better yet, go to Tripadvisor for much better, specific information for free. |
