A Great Help!,
This review is from: Experience Twilight: The Ultimate Twilight Fan Travel Guide (Paperback)
I love twilight and when I saw this book I just had to have it! It is very interesting to see that Forks is a real place as well as how many different places all around the Northwest were used for filming. This book, and perhaps even more importantly the web site that accompanies it ([...]), were and invaluable help in planning our trip! We emailed with several questions and they were happy to share what they knew. Anytime I had a question or didnt understand the information contained in the book they were happy to give me more information.
I loved the fact that the book is written to help people who are movie fans, book fans, or like us BOTH! The book is filled with great locations but it has even more to give. This book also contain places like, 98331 Gear, Lappell's, and Jilly's. These businesses ended up being some of the biggest DON'T MISS places we visited. I wont spoil it for you, but when you buy the book (and then go there) you will find that these "extra" places are as worth it as the places you knew you wanted to see in the first place. Lastly I have to say again how helpful the people were. If you have any questions planning your trip or before you purchase this book I would strongly recommend contacting them! Just the friendly customer service and all the information they have is worth the cost of this book. Even before I bought the book they were helping me and answering my questions. That says a lot to me.

Great Resource,

I had many people send me word docs with a listing of all the addresses for the book/film locations as we were planning our trip. I was informed about this book a month before my trip and I was so excited, I ordered it. It is a small book, but there is a lot of information included. The book is seperated into the book locations and then the filiming locations. There was helpful information about shopping in Forks, which was greatly appreciated. This was the only source that provided information on the location of the Cullen house from the movie.
The addresses were helpful and used them for our GPS. The handdrawn maps were very helpful because the locations can get a bit tricky to find. We showed the book at the locations we stopped and all the owners were willing to stamp our book and make it more personal. The pictures also helped us know exactly what spot represented the scenes in the movie. I would recommend this book to anyone planning a trip to Washington or Oregon for a Twilight Tour. This book definetly made our trip more enjoyable. It was easier to carry this book than several printed pages.

Wonderful Resource,

I ordered this book for a youth group that was going to head up to Forks to see the area. I don't know what the other reviewers were thinking, true it's not a large book but it full of information about the site locations used in the movie. I found the illustrations to be wonderful. In an age where everyone can google map or google earth most everywhere, the hand drawn maps show a personal touch.
The book does exactly what it says it does. It details locations including a variety of shops that can enhance your Twilight Tour experience. The souvenir stamps can make this a true fans collectors item. It's just too bad that more of the businesses did not choose to participate in the stamp program. The Alice Look a Like who is willing to take time to talk to you and allowed us to take a picture with her made the whole experience even more special for everyone involved. We are not planning a trip to some of the Oregon sites.

Lacking in content and editing - but a nice cover,
By Just Me (Florida) - See all my reviews

I bought this for someone as a surprise - they don't know we are going to visit some of the locations. There is a lot of information on the "net" about the locations which is where I saw the book offered. I could have just created a doc file and put all my findings in it and printed it - but I thought it would be a nicer surprise if I bought this. Well.... It says it is 40 pages. There are acutally 21 "pages" or 42 sides in mine. Nine of which are completely blank. I guess for me to take notes? Not sure - but they should not count in the page count. Two full pages are an ad for a flower shop. Wow - that should be paying for the book then. Very odd to find a two full page Ad in a book I paid for. So that has it down to 31 pages of content - one of which is the table of contents. There are no page numbers so the table of contents is of little help. Plus the contents is by town - it would be nice to also have one by "Scene" like "Baseball Scene" - which so far I haven't found in the book. Luckily I have the Directors Notebook which says where they filmed that. Annoying since that is a popular scene. Another really annoying thing is that Saint Helens is 5 of the pages - and on every page it is listed as "Experience Twilight: Movie Tour - St Helens, WA" But really it is Oregon - Washington/Oregon what's the diff - right? For so little content it seems like you could catch something in the largest print on the top of FIVE of the 31 (30 really) pages. The maps lack detail and my niece could have drawn them (she is 5). Many locations are text only - no photo - no map. There is room for them right next to the text. I guess it was too hard. Anyway - I am disappointed and should have just printed my own doc file like I orginally wanted to. Curiousity got the better of me. For $5 I'd say buy it - any more - and you are making a donation to them. Still annoyed about the Ad - maybe they own that store? At least put a coupon for us if you are going to put an Ad!

Excellent Resource For Twilight Fans Visiting Oregon,
By Twilight Fan (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Experience Twilight: The Ultimate Twilight Fan Travel Guide (Paperback)
I purchased this book because I was taking a trip to Oregon to visit the sites where Twilight was filmed. The book made my trip go very smoothly, and gave great tips on exactly how to access the various locations. The book provided addresses and maps to the various locations. It also gave details on which scenes were filmed at each location. There was a lot of information in the book that I was not able to find elsewhere on the internet. I would definately recommend this book to Twilight fans.

All the info you need in one book!,
This review is from: Experience Twilight: The Ultimate Twilight Fan Travel Guide (Paperback)
This book is the Twilight filming locations bible! My many trips to see the different locations would not have been as easy if it wasn't for this book. It contains all the locations where the movie was filmed scene by scene (even a location from a deleted scene) and what was shot there that you see in the movie. It has correct address information, hints on the best place to get a picture or to park, and the author's own photos so you'll know you're in the right spot! It also contains a lot of "insider" information so you can go on your Experience as prepared as possible. You could find all this information on the internet seperately (and with lots of searching) but why waste your time when you can get it all in one book? THE best book for anyone planning on visiting the movie's filming locations.

This is a great book if you plan to travel around to stop at all the locations noted in the book...there are a few other stops not noted in the book, but can be found if you search online. I am using this as my travel guide for my trip sometime in the fall. Can't wait...

It's cool seeing the real spots where the Twilight story took place, but this feels like a thrown-together-to-make-a-buck kind of book. I guess I expected more photos or something more substantial. Only for Twihards.

I already had "Twilight Territory:A fan's guide to Forks and La Push" and "Twilight Tours" when I bought this book. Of the 3 (including this book), "Twilight Tours" is the most well made-you can tell it's higher quality."Twilight Territory" is written by the editor of the Forks Forum, so that gives it good authenticity. With regards to this book, if you own either of the other 2, the info is pretty redundant. In addition, the quality of the book itself is not worth the price-in my opinion, it should be priced closer to the $5-$7 range. There are typos and spelling errors that I spotted that made me wonder if it was proof-read thoroughly. In the books defense, you can tell the author is a fan, not just trying to cash in on the Twilight craze, which is nice. And they give specific addresses for some locations that I haven't previously seen.
Overall, if I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't buy it. But if you don't have either of the other books, it's a decent source of info. Be aware, however, the quality is similar to a soft bound program, like what you would get at a play or concert, or even comparable to a magazine. Maybe if they lowered the price....?

Inaccurate information,
By
This review is from: Experience Twilight: The Ultimate Twilight Fan Travel Guide (Paperback)
This is really written and edited by locals? Could have fooled me. It is one thing to have an author write a story and have information wrong. The story itself isn't real. But when someone writes a factual book about real places, they better research their information. Case in point: The Quillayute Prairie Cemetary is not now, nor ever was part of the Quilute Reservation. And to slide into the Twilight story a bit, how would the Cullens be able to play ball there if it was? Wouldn't that be breaking treaty?
And yes, I grew up here on the Prairie and graduated from Forks High. To give the book it's due, I do like the idea of using it as a "passport" and getting it stamped as you visit places. Maybe it should have had blank pages next to each location so the tourist could put their own photo in there and use it as a scrapbook. |
